Love this scene! We got one in Vermont, but it's been forgotten, but the steel is gone.. but you can still find spikes in the ground.. even the wood is still there and remnants of the old station is still there.. it had a funny name.. it was called the Hoot Toot Whistle (Something like that)

It does take energy to walk the tracks at night. Especially snowy ones and if you have to go over trestles. I don't blame you.

There's just something about photos of old train tracks in the middle of nowhere that I love-- I suppose it's the wondering about where they might lead a person...

vikingjon In reply to dreamlightning [2012-01-13 02:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Definitely! You know they are going somewhere, but you know they go through some lonely places as well.

dreamlightning In reply to vikingjon [2012-01-13 03:33:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes, although I like the idea of going through "lonely places"--
I think of them more as peaceful than lonely (introvert = me );
places no one has been in awhile, you know?

I actually went there to be at peace.

I was about to ask if this was in S. Ohio. Looks a lot like places I've been to. Great shot, Jon.

We're connected by similar landscapes. This line was, in fact, part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad at one time.
