Thousands of years ago, Chalcedony was born on Colony World Barque. When she crawled from the soil, a beautiful Quartz Gem named Rose was waiting to welcome her. In the millennia that followed Chalcedony had much time to reflect on the sadness in Rose's eyes and what it might mean for her when she and her kin finally left this world. Rose trained her with care on star maps and all the great technology of the Colony. One day a message came through the Diamond Channel. There were rushed preparations.. then Rose and her crew left the planet. The Quartz told Chalcedony that she needed to see Pink Diamond urgently, hinting something about impurities, about danger. With a powerful hand on Chalcedony's shoulder Rose promised that she would return if at all possible.

Chalcedony now knows what she meant. In all the files of Homeworld, she has never found a Gem like herself, like many of her people. She long ago halted the progress of the Kindergardens. Now her star map has a bright yellow alert, an approaching ship. The Lost Gems are prepared to fight for their lives.

Chalcedony is clever and direct. She speaks her mind and has kept peace on her world for nearly 8000 years by ruling with strict law. Much of the technology of Barque was designed by Chalcedony herself, including the Wall that surrounds the Flureserve of Rose Quartz. Once every hundred years she takes a trip around the planet alone, walking through many abandoned halls and searching for a way to reach Rose. The lonely Gem has never found one.

Current Status: A ship full of Yellow Diamond's minions has landed in the Flureserve. One of them is a new kind of Gem named Salt, who is pregnant with Chalcendony's child as a result of fusion. This ship carried a Coral Pearl who had harbored a dark secret. She was the jailer of the ancient ruler Fire Diamond! Fire Diamond killed her captor, stealing the ship and fleeing Barque. Chalcedony does not know of this danger... yet.
