I like the simple design in this.. back to basics...
The way you took into account the reflection of the blue planet on the big planet is great. But i think it's a bit too bright for that distance.. just a personal impression.
Overall this is a great experiment..

I think the shadow isn't big enough en where is the blue light coming from but you most definatly have skills mate

well the shadow was from a sun hittin the planet...so its the point of view that makes thaty effect...and the liht is commin off of the blue moon that above the rings

beautiful planet, great clouds, but it would be perfect if the inside of the ring wasnt so sharp, little gaussian blur could fix that right up...

The planets is awesome, as the lighting, but the rings seems to be out of the right scale, missing some detrits....

just one question...detrits?

You obviously won't put rocks cuz they would never be visible from this distance, but at least some noie would be good. It's too sharp, too soft for a asteroid belt

lol...well I was goin for the saturn ring look
even pretty close, the images they show of the rings dont seem to show the rocks very well...lol
but yeah I should probably have tried to get some noise in there...lol...but I was after the lights mainly anyway...hah

Great work, it seems the shadowing effect on the rings was nicely executed

Very good work on the rings! How do you do it?

I made the rings themselves in ps7 then used them as a texture in 3ds max

This is just fantastic man! The only critique I can see is that the lighting on the rings is confusing. All the other lighting looks impecable but the ring lighting almost seems backward, I figure that you lit it on the one side to show the refraction of light off the atmosphere onto the rings but if thats the case I think it should be duller and wouldnt the rings be lit alot more?

lol...actualy your right...lol
part of the rings are lit from the planet as well as a light source somewhere off screen...the light should be a lil duller...lol
ThanX
I'll try and keep that in mind next time
