It's so funny, but there's always something about our planet that amazes us and makes us put it in our art.
I love your work!

I'm not digging the stars and the blueish color, but everything else is fine.

interesting... i wouldnt market this as terragen though... as you heavily modified anything that terragen spit out... i can see the water transparancy... basically what you did was either use a surface mask of a TG render, OR... you set the planet curve low enough that you could get a slight curve.. then edits the rest in photoshop...its a start i suppose.

It just something different I wanted to try...instedd of the old fasion way with it all done in PS so I went and made a map for it in terragen then used that very map the same way(almost) like you do with textures(cept for the modifin really)...ThanX!

well... toying with TG is nice and fine... you just have to be careful... though i cannot condone your flame against Alyn... as this is an artists web site... artists mean there WILL be criticism... and criticism means that someones gonna get pissed off...
you just have to take everything with a grain of salt.

Pretty cool. I'm looking at everything backwards in time, so I do like the final version best. You are so good at these that even your tests are cool.

Pretty nice, although the atmosphere glow is ridiculously out of hand. you prolly want to turn that down.

Very nice! What programs did you use to make this? If you used Photoshop as one, you need to tell me how you did this.. if it's terrogen, I'm a bit program-less in that department, lol.
I looked at nuformz's comment on the moon and realized that it's possible for a moon to have an atmosphere... anything's possible whne it comes to other systems. It's possible to have a slight atmosphere on dead planets as well, and depending on the composition of the moon, can also effect how light reflects off of it, etc etc.
I hope you do contiune to work on this pict; it's looking great so far, but the stars need to be fixed, or at least put to a greater density to cover some of the blank regions of space. Maybe toss up a nebula/universe up for extra "eye-candy".

lol..yeah...well my freind...you hit both programs on the spot...the moon and planet them selves are terragen...and the rest is photoshop...now its time for me to make a real pic with these programs, insted of a test....ThanX!

hmm. I see a few things to work on for the final version. First, obviously, the stars. They are cheap, but you already know this. Second, the moon. A moon would not have an atmosphere, so a good amount of glow that you have would not be present. Last, the area of the planet that is lighted is very undefined. Try erasing some of the atmospheric glow from the back side of the planet, and darkening the shadow a little more.
Its a good start, but still, work on it some more.

Two of the moons in our solar system have atmospheres. Titan orbiting Saturn has a mostly Nitrogen atmosphere. Neptune's Triton has an atmosphere as well.

Well yeah..I know all this...Thats why I just tossed to all in there in like five mins...lol...The only this that I really worked on here(the test) was the land(and the moons land) and the water on the planet...all else was just done and random for entertainment really...lol
