Illustration for a personal plot/storyline. Somehow it always works out to some girl looking at some bird. I swear it's not intentional.

Aaaand I fiinally did something I am mildly pleased with in celebration of the end of exams! The last time I attempted some kind of extensive background feature, I discovered that I really liked painting water. This time, I discovered that I just really don't like painting trees. Should probably find some branch and leaf brushes and learn to use CS.

Music: Nuvole Bianche - Ludovico Einaudi, with Alessia Tondo. [link]
Time: 5 hrs nonstop... although it was stewing in my head for a while.
Paint Tool SAI, Photoshop2

So enchanting! As others have said, I love the peace and quiet of this scene.
It reminds me of the Sevenwaters - daughter of the Forest book (by Juliet Marilier), which is like a Celtic adaption of the Wild Swans by Andersen/the Six Swans as recorded by the Grimm brothers..

Excuse-me: how big was the illustration while you were working on it ?
(Don't know if this is the right way to say it... I mean "big" like "how many pixels width/height" o_- )

I don't remember... it honestly wasn't as big (dpi or pixel-wise) as the file size at which I work now, but it was causing some issues with the laptop already.

Yay Einaudi! And this is so beautiful – it feels quiet and intimate, I love the way you have drawn it as if from a distance, as if the observer is looking through the trees at the scene. Amazing piece.

Einaudi FTW. Heh, yes, I did attempt to create that perspective... I'm glad it came across somewhat. Thanks for the compliment!

I especially love the water. You are very good at getting that reflective light and color into it! For not liking painting trees, I think you did a good job with the foreground ones.

Thanks! Although the water always seems to look less "finished" to me after I think I'm finished. Oh well, I'll keep working on that.

Thanks! Of course, the idea rarely transfers to execution, but unlike most times I pushed myself a little farther before declaring it "done." :>

Very beautiful painting! I like the colors, and the girl with the swan is an enchanting vision. But I espacially like the foreground with the two trees and the water. You did very well ! ^^
