Now after about 200 years I've submitted something.
This is a completely handmade and hand painted cosplay mask with eye holes. It's a part of a commission so I won't be able to keep it. DX Making this gave me lots of trouble but in the end the painting process was so much fun I'll forgive it. I tried a new method and this Mask turned out much more comfortable, lighter weight and less fragile than my first one that I made four years ago. I'm very happy with it and sad to see it go, but someday I will make another one for myself for a future cosplay. X)What do you think? I find it specially awesome that the wearer is not completely blind... Being able to see makes cons a lot more exciting. XD

What intrigues me the most is how one is able to see through it though (heck, I can't even see any eye holes XD ). Could you explain how you made the eye holes without them being visible? I going to work on a Majora's Mask prop myself ^^

If you look closely, you can see a difference in the texture of the black part around the eyes, right in the middle. That's where the papier mache surface has a hole in it, and where I put some see-through fabric. You have to carve the eye holes all the way through the base material, and put the fabric onto the final layer of whatever material you're using, and then very carefully cover its edges. Also be careful when painting the Mask, as any paint that gets of the fabric will leave a shiny stain.

Thank you so much! Well, first I made a base from insulation foam. I carved it in the right shape and then covered it with a thick layer of acrylic. Then I perfected the shape with paper pulp that was then gessoed and sanded several times. (The paper pulp turned out to be so heavy when wet that the mask got warped, so I had to do that part a couple of times...) The spikes are posterboard and papier mache, they were pushed into the foam. Eye holes have two layers of chiffon covering them. And the whole thing is painted with acrylics. X)

Ooops, I just noticed a mistake in my writing. XD I'm so used to saying 'insulation foam' for some reason... I meant upholstery foam. I don't know the differences between the two kinds of foams but insulation foam might work, too. DX

No problem. XD The foam worked pretty well as a base if you ignore the warping problem, I could just poke and glue the wires and elastic in the back, too! It's a lot more comfy as well.
