Did Severus actually say that? I never thought he would refer to James as "amusing", even sarcastically.

I like this! And I'm not a Snape fan, so I easily disregard Snape art. One reason is a lot of people like to make him hot or draw Alan Rickman. This is really true to character and shows a homely guy you have sympathy for. Very nice style.

Thanks, I'm glad you like this one. We created a group with only non-Rickman Snapes [link] , for the same reasons

That's really cool! Alan Rickman is good and all, but something's off. Older than Luscious (supposed to be a prefect during Snape's first year) and much older than Ralph fiennes as Voldemort. Kind of too good looking, too. But I just read about your group and I really like it (I'm tempted to join it) and appreciate that it seems to get people to use their imaginations from the books (which came before Alan Rickman). Another one I feel the same about is seeing all the Helena Bonham Carters as Bellatrix.

We feel the same. There are so many changes in the story and in the characters on the screen. It is not about saying Alan Rickman would be a bad actor and wouldn't have his charm for him. He is just, from my point of view, too far from the book character, especially physically. Too charming, actually. Everyone can say he's a good and noble guy, when it was hidden in the books - what was the great deal with the character. About !thirty years older (a whole generation!), and without his trademarks : the hooked nose, long greasy hair or thin body. He is another character in the end, all the more as the movie image appeals and seduces. Some actors look more alike the book characters they incarnate, but we've felt sorry the movies impose a single overrepresented image and we wanted to feature the alternative visions.

Sorry to butt in other people's conversations
Yeah, Alan Rickman is my fave. actor but I can't help but see the movie Snape and book Snape as two totally different people.
I know you weren't going for this but I actually think your drawing of Snape is really hot. Maybe, I'm just weird. :giggles:

But I think you are talking to the wrong person. I didn't draw this.

This is brilliant in so many ways, but chief among them is Sev himself. It's mysterious how you take a tormented lad, lay bare the pain (and his attempt to conceal it) - yet his ... I don't think 'beauty' is too strong a word ... his sheer beauty is what I take away. No wonder Potter had it in for him.
