Description
So this is a part of a project. But I'm having currently 4 open projects, plus the un-storage going on...So...I cannot promise it is going to be completed soon. And yes, I'm all for profiles lately. I apologize sincerely for repeating myself but obsessed people won't change that easily...
On another note, browsing my favourites, I was looking for what would define my inner Snape again...Which led me to a deadlock again. I pay sincerely tribute to the Snape artists who influence me but if I visualize Snape like a thin, sad, vulnerable man in my head, I cannot deny that artists who draw him like a powerful, angered, dangerous, strong man can ring a bell all the same. What says "Snape" to me can be so different and at the same time so rare. And there is also this question of the artist's style, blending with the subject of the artwork. If they can convey their unique style in the portrait, without failing to depict a more universal Snape... I feel like I'll never catch him all. But well, a few others did, in my eyes. The most amazing? Their Snapes are not similar. That's the point... Unique and different. Recognizable and original.

Yes, I agree with you. I think that's the beauty of loving and honouring a character. Each person (they don't even have to be artist! Just, you know, fans) has a particular Snape in their minds. And are the little details each person gives him that make Snape, as a whole, someone so special.
I love your style, by the way. I absolutely adore the way you colour and the particular style of your Snape.

Your Snape is always the most distinctive. He's also the closest to how I invision Snape.

Nice portrait. It's a lot similar to the way I myself imagine Snape: harsh, with a long nose and a slightly unpleasant face - but an intense expression. And you've a very, very interesting style: I love the colours which create his dress and neck.

I like seeing a variety of interpretations of Snape, but your portraits really strike a chord with me, as the Snape I often picture in my head. Not what you would call a conventionally attractive man, but there's just something about him that commands your attention...

Went away for a couple of days ... and came back to this. Life is so Slytheringly good again.

Oh my, incredible.
Wanted to point out these red strands, or the scowl, or general profile line, then read comments and saw I'd got nothing new to say. So I simply say this is great.

That is brilliant. The careworn face, his harsh, bird-of-prey profile, the overall general unkeptness. Perfect.

Not much I can say that others haven't said already. However, the particular style of this one reminds me of something in a museum that features art from pre-20th century.
Gorgeous.

I wouldn't be surprised - I have always been fascinated by the art and history of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th. My favorite period.

I like this one, Bea - the colors here are appealingly subtle, applied in an expressionistic style, and the profile is nicely gaunt and Snapish, especially the defined cheekbone going down from the eye. The only critique I could offer is the brow may be a bit too long and arched for the size of the face but overall it's a very nice piece

I love him so much. This profile...gah. I am lost for words. This is such a lame comment, but I felt that something needed to be said!

Awesome! So very lifelike.
What scene is this from? Looks like it could be from the end of PoA, from the red stains around his neck.

I still don't know if I prefer your pieces or your words about them and about Snape. Probably the closest you got to my ideal image of Severus: I adore his hair here, and, by the way, the un-finished look only adds to the piece itself - I adore the neat strokes and the random overlapping of colours (also, nice palette: the red bits remind me of Nagini's bite and the touch of green on his oily mane is striking)!
I know that the adjective "adorable" should not be allowed when you're speaking of Snape, but that's it: in his greasiness, his scrawniness, his umpleasant sneer... I find him adorable. My bad.

I totally agree about the 'inner Snape'. He's both, and sometimes neither 8) The part of the project looks promising

So much to love here: the arched brows, the worry/stress lines in his face, the hair tucked behind his ear, the scowl--oh, the scowl. You make such good Snape!
