How did you want to do it - faux fur, fleece, yarn?

Well probably yarn and or fleece

Ok, I haven't done them myself, but here's a tutorial for dolls that would work for ponies, too: [link]
For a fleece mane/tail, there's so much variation it's best to just make a pattern yourself. Remember that the whole thing is going to shrink a bit when it's stuffed, and to get points you need a squared-off edge. Then you'd attach the finished mane with a ladder stitch.

I don't for this one, but they're simple to add. For the horn, use a cone pattern like this: [link] You can try it out with paper before cutting the fabric. Then just ladder stitch it to the forehead. For wings I use a teardrop shape and take a few long stitches to define the feathers.

thank you for your help! i hope my plushie will come out good, once i make it ill be sure to send you a link. the other plushies that used this tutorial looked amazing. im going tobhave a hard time expanding it to make it bigger and getting all of the sizes to fit just right though, but hopfully it will all be worth it!

Just go slowly and you should be fine, and definitely submit it to the group when you finish!

Thank you for sharing this pattern! I just used to to make a pony for my husbands nieces - and if it withstands their abuse, will make them bigger versions using the same pattern

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Nalusa [2012-06-06 23:13:17 +0000 UTC]
Awesome! I don't have any small children around to test it on, let me know how it holds up :0

Nalusa In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-08-19 15:46:44 +0000 UTC]
So, the pattern has held up well against the shared abuses of a four and eight year old - for the 7 inch tall printout. The girls have run it through the ringer; so I fully commend you on creating a child-resistant pattern.

That is good to know, since I don't have a handy child to test it on XD

Nalusa In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-06 23:18:38 +0000 UTC]
Will do! I used a combo of machine stitching and backstitch, to hopefully make it as resilient as possible.

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Nalusa [2012-06-06 23:52:44 +0000 UTC]
Machine stitching is easier if you enlarge the pattern, I think. It can get fiddly at the 7 inch tall size.

This is very helpful.
My daughter wishes the pony Rarity, but I have never sewed a unicorn
how do I do with the horn best of all?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Mellowpurr [2012-06-05 17:24:16 +0000 UTC]
You can make the horn from a conical shape and ladder-stitch the base to the forehead. Make a little pattern from a rolled piece of paper first.

I stumbled across this pattern and I am really happy that you share your work with us. I really love it.
I tried to design some wings fitting for rainbow dash and I saw the preview of the pattern on your tumbler blog. You plan to sew the wings to the body... Do you have a tip for me how to do it best? I saw several plushies by now and I ask myself how to make it look just right...
Thank you for your great work. Keep it up you make many people happy

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Serathina [2012-05-17 17:44:10 +0000 UTC]
I sew around the inside of the wings using a ladder stitch, but you can also attach them with a plastic doll/teddy bear joint (then you have wings that can move!)

Thanks for the input. I will give the teddy bear joints a try. Sounds pretty awesome.

How much adjusting would be required to use this pattern for Alicorn Plushie creation?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Luckster [2012-05-13 00:27:57 +0000 UTC]
Well, you'd need to lengthen the neck and legs and make the head smaller, at least.

I printed this out...and it's actually bigger on the screen. I take it the size it appears as on-screen is the correct size?

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to lewisbolland [2012-05-09 01:50:08 +0000 UTC]
No, it's designed to fit on 8.5 x 11 paper. You can enlarge it, though.

The darts under the legs? They work to bring the legs under the body to make the pony stand up. Check out the tutorial to see.

Do you mind if people sell plushies made with this pattern?
I like how it is simple, but still looks great. Also, it scales well (31" tall pony is awesome pony)
