I think I am going to use this instead of the other, mostly because this looks better, is that okay?

Hey there,
Gosh I'm so terrible, I don't remember if I've dropped in to let ya know I've made two ponies using your pattern now
[link]

And I"ll probably make a few more!
We have a pony obsession over here.
Thanks so much.
Can't wait to see what new patterns you might post in the future. ^_^

do you have a demo template with a wing, mane, or tail?
for a reference
Thanks

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to koolcat78956 [2012-06-25 06:13:37 +0000 UTC]

I'm afraid not. I'm working on a newer pattern. For the moment, there's a sneak peek with the wing pattern on my tumblr: [link]

And Meowplease made a tutorial on adding a mane here: [link]
There are so many mane styles, it wasn't worth making one just for this pattern.

Very cute. Would I have to edit anything other than the center head if I wanted to change it to a male pony?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Kowalski4eva [2012-06-24 19:13:18 +0000 UTC]

You could probably do it by extending and squaring off the muzzle.

Wow, this makes life a lot easier.
Before I get started on this, though, I've gotta buy a couple thimbles (plush fabric is very scary when hand stitching).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to NotACrapWasGiven [2012-06-16 18:57:57 +0000 UTC]

I never could get used to wearing thimbles. I just developed calluses XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NotACrapWasGiven In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-16 19:07:22 +0000 UTC]

But mahn I am really scared of injuring myself. I always injure myself, no matter what it is I am doing. I have gotten injured by listening to music. That is how bad I suck.

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to NotACrapWasGiven [2012-06-16 19:08:23 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like me, I am a grade-A klutz. I've jabbed myself with needles so many times - it just doesn't bother me much.

NotACrapWasGiven In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-17 05:53:40 +0000 UTC]

I hate bleeding though.
Thimbles. Thousands of thimbles.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to NotACrapWasGiven [2012-06-17 07:31:56 +0000 UTC]

You know, I almost never bleed - the needles are too fine. I mostly cuss.

Catmug In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-07-07 00:15:59 +0000 UTC]

You wouldn't believe how many times I've dropped the f-bomb while making a pony following your tutorial...

But I'm having a hella fun. These are awesome, thank you so much. Do you think you would post the more complicated pattern up? I obviously won't be able to do it, just curious about what it looks like o:

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Catmug [2012-07-07 00:54:28 +0000 UTC]

Ouch! Well, if it makes you feel better, I cuss a lot when I sew, too XD

You can take a sneak peek at the complicated pattern on my tumblr: [link]

oh dayum

and thanks for showing me, i was just curious.

i clearly need a lot of practice before advancing - which i will keep doing.

thanks so much, you're great.

I remember I once stabbed myself in the thumb whilst cutting brownies (like a manly man).
There were obscene amounts of blood for the size/depth of the cut. And then my thumb hurt for like two weeks.
I really could never have diabetes because I'd have to stab my fingers every day to use a glucose meter.

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to NotACrapWasGiven [2012-06-17 18:16:37 +0000 UTC]

I once got my fingertip accidentally chopped off in a slamming door . . . it looked like something from Evil Dead 2. Sooooo much blood. :/

NotACrapWasGiven In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-17 18:52:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh man.
Man I would just.
I don't know how I would handle that.
Probably just try to lick away the blood and be like, "see, it's fine, it's not even bleeding tha--HOLYCUNTFUCKCOCKSHITDICKASSBALLS!"
And then visit the ER. Man I hate going to the hospital.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to NotACrapWasGiven [2012-06-17 18:57:48 +0000 UTC]

The weird thing is, I sort of went into "calm, cool and collected" mode UNTIL I got home from the hospital. Then I cried for hours and spent an entire day asleep. Shock, or something.

NotACrapWasGiven In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-17 19:32:33 +0000 UTC]

x] That's like the time I spilled boiling water all over the lower half of my body.
While my gramma was getting shit ready to drive me to the ER and putting cold cloths and shit on my burns I just sat there and watched cartoons, and then, after getting all bandaged and stuff, I was sitting there, in my room, on the computer, and then suddenly I was just like BALLS THAT HURTS. But I went to the play I was supposed to be in anyway since I only had to be on like twice and it didn't really matter that much, and for all the rest of the time I just played cards and stuff. My gramma made a bigger deal about it than I did. It was only second-degree burns and it didn't even hurt that bad most of the time and the scar is gone now, two years later.

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to NotACrapWasGiven [2012-06-18 01:28:09 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, burns are weird like that. I got burned on an oven coil a while back, and it didn't even start hurting much until a few hours later.

NotACrapWasGiven In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-18 01:43:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but from all my cooking and whatnot I don't think I physically can be burned anymore.

and I have been having lots of fun with your pattern (with some modifications):

Pony plushies: [link]

This pattern scales really well!
The tallest one is 44" from hoof to top of head (we're working on and preparing for commissions).

OMG It's HUUUUGE! I wish I could see one of those in real life, although I'd have to resist the urge to ride on it XD

We just designed a pvc sitting frame today... it's 1" pipe, so it should hold adult weight
(If not, we've found some 1/2" steel pipe...)

Yep, have fun! Just don't sell the pattern - that's intended to remain free.

I wouldnt sell your pattern, I think that would be morally wrong!
Thank you so much c: and im making a 26 inch pinkie pie from hoof to ear from a modified version of your pattern c: I will post pictures for you to see ^^

Voiseyjr In reply to ??? [2012-06-10 19:23:56 +0000 UTC]

i'd like to give this a go... though i do have a few questions...

1) is it simple?

2) is this to size or can we enlarge it a bit?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Voiseyjr [2012-06-10 20:05:08 +0000 UTC]

It's about as simple as I could make it, although I am working on other patterns, too.
And yes, you can enlarge it. At this size you get a pony about 7 inches tall.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Voiseyjr In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-06-10 20:23:56 +0000 UTC]

ok thanks i did read the tutorial properly not long asking this and it seems pretty simple (or as simple as a pony will get!) i was just wondering how would you do the mane and tail? like i know it's easier to make the pattern as you do it but i mean what kind of fabric and it is like just stitched on?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Voiseyjr [2012-06-10 21:08:24 +0000 UTC]

I use faux fur, and I don't really use a pattern, I just sort of cut out strips and eyeball it. There are tutorials on yarn and felt hair for dolls on :iconpattern-dept: that can be used for ponies, too.
