Description
Drawing was split into 2 different days, and it sat on my harddrive with me hating it for about a week before I post-processed it. One of the biggest problems I had with this image was making the face hint to Emilia Clarke (because I didn't have any screenshots of her face in that angle/position and had to extrapolate from other refs). Other issues included composition (specifically, I couldn't decide for the longest time whether it was better with an iconic single dragon representation, or all three...). In the end I had to just toss in the towel and call it "done."Tools: Intuos 4 large, Photoshop CS5
Time: ~12-15 hrs

The outcome is great so It's all good... I had a question though , did you use the smudge tool for transitions?

Transitions? I'm not sure what you mean by that. As for the smudge tool - I almost never use the smudge tool. Part of the reason is because right now my PC absolutely cannot take the heavy weight/load of the PS smudge tool even though I wish I could really play around with it and with the settings, the other part of the reason is that I'm used to forcing my way through everything by sheer repetition - If I paint something wrong, I repaint on top, smoothing things out, etc, are all done with the same brush going over the same part over and over and over... you get the idea. So I rarely even think about using something like smudge/blur tool.

By transition I meant when to different colors meets where you should use the smudge tool to create a normal transition between color A to B, Or blending colors I guess , I don't really know the names since I'm new in painting digitally sry about that.

Oh I see! No worries For blending, I use eyedropper tool. I've recommended this guide for insight on much of my process (fav.me/d5ytzep ) in my FAQ

This is a great piece! Thank you for posting the poccess!
I have a question, on how many layers (besides the sketch) do you usually do the painting?

Most of my layers are created when I color-change things/contrast edit/play with layer styles. Generally between 10-20. You can read more about how I use layers in my FAQ fav.me/d4grn7e
