This guy was a cool one to do with a nice clean illo to work with pencilled by Guido Guidi. Digital colors by me. Illo from Dreamwave’s More than Meets the Eye Transformers Profile books. One of the early guys, he's on the last page of issue 1.Digital colors only Photoshop 7.0

havent seen any dreamwave work ina long time though
last thing i read from them was war within and the WW2 gijoe vs transformers mini series

Yeah, this piece is and old one. I only worked for Dreamwave for a year because I happened to hire in the year right before Dreamwave going under and being no more. I worked on quite a lot of art for them during that time but was only with them a year, then... they imploded.
Indeed Guidi's work was excellent to do colors for, same with Don Figueroa's. I always enjoyed getting their work to color as their illos were the more solid and clear of the piles of illos I worked on (was hired to draw them but ended up on colors. If they hadn't folded I probably would have been drawing them as well eventually).

Very nice color work. Meshes very well with the pencils.
Bruticus was one of my favorite combiners. Mainly because one of his component bots, Blast-Off, had a Space Shuttle alt-mode, and I was obsessed with space as a kid.
I managed to get Bruticus when he was rereleased as Ruination in the RiD line. I was so happy to get him.

Heh, I remember this guy... I only could find his arms(The copter an the space shuttle) in the stores for some reason... Nice coloring job

And looking at them again it's pretty much the colors I did (the chest plate isn't white it's a silver gray. My monitor is calibrated properly and it's gray). Dreamwave wanted to use the toys on most of the Profile books art, not the cartoon so Bruticus didn't get the cartoon's alt color (which is on the first link) scheme. Hope that helps explain it better.

If you think about it, Bruticus' components change colour as he combines. Blast Off's wings form his chestplate, and they're usually brown. Onslaught forms his body, and is blue, yet his body is silvergrey.

It should be noted in the posting but at the time I did this piece i was using Photoshop 7.0 which is industry standard image and photo editing software. I'm now currently using Photoshop CS3 for pretty much all my work right now

Nice rendition of Bruticus. He always was a cool Decepticon. Maybe we'll get to see him in Transformers 2.

Nice work on the colors. One thing though. The way the faceplate is, didn't g1 bruticus have three parts to the plate instead of two? Cause i think the two part faceplate was only a feature on G2 bruticus an onward. Anyhow could you do a G2 colored vesion of this? cause that would be so awsome.

Thank you but as you note in your comment I only did colors on this, I didn't draw the illustration. The work was done for Dreamwave comics some several years back. I'm a full time working artist so I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to do another G2 colors version of this. There are plenty of other talented Transformers artists on Deviant who likely would though
