Hawkens building 231-F; located in the political bloc of Genuaä on the architectural labyrinthine planet of Indus. Genuaä is a rather progressive political bloc (nations are called blocs due to the 360 degree nature of the architectural landscape that is Indus) regarding sendai race relations and political issues, as such it has a rather large free sendai population. Many sendai own businesses in Genuaäa (which is less common throughout most of the rest of Indus) and Hawkens is one such example. A sendai mod shop and cafe'/bar, though it's true nature isn't clear in the signage the local sendai are well acquainted with the services they offer. It's clear though, from the passageway to the far lower left, that Hawkens is in the company of other establishments of spirits and drinking.

The Hawkens building is, of course, just part of the massively and endless maze of structure that makes up Indus. There are clear indications of deco and nouveau cues in the building and the various bits of machinery clutter covering it's walls. The cluster of bakelite devices to the left of the front entrance is an omnisense network terminal. The citizens of Genuaä, within reason, do their best to keep the local architecture well maintained, however Indus is centuries old so layers of dirt, rust, graffiti, and detritus are hard to manage no matter how diligent.  Genuaä is a bustling population center on Indus so it's streets are reasonably more well lit than less populated locations. Still, as seen here, there are patches of light and patches of dark. With no sky Indus fully relies on artificial lighting and when lights fail, it can be quite a problem depending on the nature of the location in question.

I'm posting these as standard HD 1920x1080 16:9 widescreen (hit download for full size). Later I might post them in crazy high-res as a dollar DL (kinda cool new feature) if there's enough interest.

Pencil illustration with digital enhancements and colors in Photoshop CS3

there will be more of these to follow (and more TKP work overall) but i don't plan to post it all at once so please stay tuned

EDIT: In an exchange, below, with it became apparent (though not immediately because it took his reply for it to hit me) that I must have subconsciously named the building Hawken's after the mech game Hawken... I guess, cause I actually don't know LOL Referring to the game wasn't an intentional nod in any way, I just had that pop into my head when I made the building's signage and it became Hawken's. That said I was aware of the game but hadn't thought about it, nor have I ever played it so, I suppose, I subconsciously pulled it up. Considering what I have seen of the game's art and design that works for me as a little homage Easter egg nod because the Hawken team did a damn fine job with the look of that game. I guess this building can be a little tribute to their efforts, conscious or not

This picture is just.
Just.
SO gorgeous, I love it.
I don't know why this got my attention so much, but I just absolutely love how this looks.  The atmosphere, the shape, the depth, AHHHH....
Excuse my ignorance, but is this from an original concept of yours?  That's what it sounded like and it certainly looks interesting!

Thank you for the kind words, happy it pulled you in like that... that's what it's supposed to be doing

Yes, it's an original concept for our Theos Ke Polemos project (which is pretty much dominating my gallery) and there are several other of these kind of settings posted (if you didn't see them: vulnepro.deviantart.com/galler… ) with more on the way. Thanks again for dropping in!

Cheers!

Indeed it is and should be seeing as I'm pretty much old school... and old. Joking aside, yeah, I'm not really a big fan of the more "modern" sterile sci-fi look, it doesn't do much for me because it feels fake and too controlled; boring. Cities have character because they absorb the history of their inhabitants. Typically this history is a very dirty and chaotic affair but it's also brimming with life and... character.

Kind thanks

I'll be... the subconscious can be a weird thing.

It didn't initially occur to me that your reply was referring to the game Hawken and you assumed I named the building after the game as some kind of Easter egg nod... I hadn't, at least not intentionally. This show how outta the loop I've been the last few years, I must have just yanked the name out of my subconscious because I am familiar with the game somewhat. Well, I suppose that works for me though, even thought I haven't played the game what I have seen of the design is pretty damn cool and a similar-ish vibe to stuff I like to do (architecture and settings), works as an homage to me I'll have to note this in the description now.

Cheers!
