Description Inspired by art protests on ArtStation wherein they're giving the bird with malformed hands as a nod to how the current AI is incapable of making anatomically correct limbs. (Somewhere along these lines, AI Art became a Polydactyly Awareness Campaign). I thought it was clever & hilarious too bad they're being censored oof.

I orginally painted a heart hand sign but my [rigging] partner said it leaves a confusing message which is supposed to be intentional since I'm not against AI Art if it's sourced ethically & not used against the artists themselves.

I think AI Art is cool if used right. One of my favorite artists & inspiration yuumei has started incorporating AI art to render bg which she then edited & painted over. She is also transparent with using AI & used her own artworks. Example: twitter.com/Yuumei_Art/status/…

My favorite Japanese horror podcast (Kowabana) has been using AI Art to make creepy illustrations over narration. And it's absolutely terrific & sets the mood right. The surrealism of AI Art encapsulates a dream-like imagery that I'm fond of seeing. (This may be a controversial opinion but I'd rather see more of these provocative AI artworks over say a Jackson Pollock.)

However, Steven Zapata (youtu.be/LqOhJXOApGI?t=1720 ) states that "I actually don't think it's super important whether or not it's art...The label of art is handed out subjectively." & "This isn't about what's art or what isn't. It's about unethical & probably illegal data acquisition..."
Having said that, I will not be using any AI into any of my works until regulations are made to protect artistic integrity & our intellectual property.

Just be transparent AI bro. No one's shaming you if you say it's AI generated. We'll be like "woah dude"
No; we'll be shaming you if you input a prompt, wait a few minutes for the AI to generate, then pat yourself in the back & claim you're now an artist & open commissions/sell it as merch. At least make an effort to paintover & edit it. Show us a before & after. Credit the artwork used. Don't rip off actual painters. Be transparent.

Edit:

Oooh just thought of an another analogy to AI Art.

Art is a luxury. Much like luxury designer brands, there are knock-offs polluting the market. The relative ease of making AI Art is similar to counterfeit products prevalent in the fashion industry. Both are fast, easy to make, cheaper, & copies of already pre-existing designs. But their quality could not live up to their original counterparts (there's a stitch misplaced, a button is missing, the logo is reversed, etc.). Look closer & you'd see that they're merely replications. Counterfeit items is not a substitute to authenticity.

And guess what? Luxury brands have not disappeared. If anything, they continue to thrive & be highly desirable. Similar to art, handmade craftmanship adds to its quality, price & selling point. No matter how outlandish or minimal the designs are (i. e. what ever art style or skill level you have). There will always be a market for you & someone who will pine for the original thing over a forgery.

As such, we will need laws & regulations in technology, similar to anti-counterfeiting campaigns, to combat the supply of fakes in our marketplace.

(Someone probably already made this analogy before me. But it also popped into my head after having a conversation with my mom who showed me her online Xmas wishlist & they were mostly handbags from SHEIN. God help me, that's another can of worms I need to open.)
