It's been a while since I've made a personal artwork & wasn't planning on making one when I woke up this morning. However, I was spurred on to participate once I saw several people complaining on different platforms about the protests spam.
I've already given my response to them but I'll say it here as well:

"I disagree that what we are doing is just spam. I think reposting the same image itself is already a form of protesting. It could be stated that it's a stance on how AI art is a repetitive copy of everything else. It could also be seen as to how the influx of AI art is burying works of artists.
Why should artists give even a little shred of their creativity in the first place when we just get insulted & disrespected by AI bros? Calling us "Luddites", "elitists", "gatekeepers", "naïve", "reactionary", "pointless", "afraid of change", etc."

No, we don't have to "at least make it look nice" for you. But I will because I'm inspired & insulted.
I'm only sparing my time & effort to make this in order to give attention to the artists & professionals who have already made much more eloquent explanations regarding the ongoing issue:

I am, personally, not fully against AI art. I root for this leap in technology & the future of art revolution. Infact, I've already used some sites like Artbreeder to make & share fanart of my friends & clients in private. I have yet to post my AI-generated fanart coz I can't find time to edit & paintover it. It was simply fun & I was curious to see how my artstyle would look like in a different style.
I have been watching over the progress & read the journals on how they are created & am amazed on how the technology has come so far so fast.

AI Art may be called soulless, but I've seen AI artworks that are still evocative & thought-provoking. This may be due to the unending spirit that humanity continue to leave behind in whatever form it takes.
But regulations & transparency need to be implemented so that artists are protected & compensated. This can be through an AI-dedicated royalty-based website or something similar like watermarks stating image was generated through AI.

We artists are not obsolete. We should not feel discouraged or defeated at this technological change. I doubt AI Art will perish. If anything, it will only become more & more refined. So protect your artworks by tagging incorrectly, watermark it, etc.
We out to make it our own instead, revise it to something we can use to increase our efficiency. By using AI to make concept art, references, etc. (As someone who hates doing background, this is a gamechanger.)
Artists let's not remain compliant & continue to hone our skills & doing what we love no matter where the future takes us.

Diffusion Art or Digital Forgery? Investigating Data Replication in Diffusion Models
For proof that AI Art sometimes copy & regurgitate from existing artwork. This is a research paper conducted by the University of Maryland & New York University that found that "...the results here systematically underestimate the amount of replication in Stable Diffusion and other models".
