Scar's life was going down a dark and destructive path to satisfy his lust for power. In his mind the world was against him since the beginning. He antagonized his own family immensely, viewing any flaws of his own as nothing more than his family's fault. It was frustrating to Scar seeing the poor decisions that his fathers and older brother would do to the Pridelands. To him, they have done nothing but bring struggles and unfair laws to their land. He wanted the Kingdom as his own. He felt if he were in charge, things would be much better! In order to get this future he wants; Scar would keep up the facade of a "perfect prince" and never let anyone catch onto his desires. Adding to his self-righteous mindset, his longtime mate and bodyguard Umoja was unintentionally validating Scar and his ego. To Scar, Umoja was the only good part about his life growing up.

"Mufasa didn't even ask the rest of the pride what we all think about letting rouges here! He acted out on his own and Ahadi let's him!" Umoja roared out in frustration pacing back and forth.

Umoja's validation of Scar came from his own personal views; being anti-monarchy. He felt a pride ruler should be something an entire pride can decide and all voice their choice to who they feel most fit to rule. Democracy. He constantly would tell Scar how much better the Pridelands would be if he were in charge; how Scar would put an end to generations of war between the Hyena clan and conflicts with other lion prides. He would endlessly shower Scar with praise and antagonize the royal family much like how Scar felt too.

"I have a feeling that will be his hubris one day." Scar grinned "He's far too welcoming to travelers... Only a fool would let two rouges visit. I'm certain we will see a few cubs in the future because of his mistake."

"It baffles me Ahadi just takes Mufasa's word on these lions acting accordingly." Umoja gritted his teeth and looked away in frustration. "And yet when you want something done, you have to have an entire speech ready."

Scar always felt a little satisfaction when someone other than himself voiced out aggression towards his brother and fathers. Even if it wasn't to the extent of hatred he felt, it all towards the same cause. Umoja was frustrated for a lot of reasons, he felt Mufasa was just going to be another wave of the same monarchy the kingdom didn't need. Each animal needed to be heard and considering the Hyena conflict and his past experience as a Lion Guard leader, Scar had far more experience to be the voice everyone needed.

If only Umoja knew of the fate to come for everyone in the Pridelands..

Umoja is Kovu's father and Scar's mate. I honestly just needed to draw Scar and Umoja together doing something. I was gonna do the usual lion cuddle stuff but I feel Scar isn't into displaying affection like that. So I just drew a scene and chance to go more in dept to Umoja's views. It's probably an unpopular headcanon but I see Scar as asexual and his relationship with Umoja was genuinely romantic before his complete spiral into madness.

Also the coloring for this might be off, my eye got infected as I was coloring this LOL.
