The Collapse of British India (and peripheral European territorial holdings)
Today, we bring you the territorial (d)evolution of British India in the RTL universe. If you aren't familiar with the project, the Roses, Tulips, and Liberty timeline explores the scenario of Dutch colonialism in North America. In this timeline, the British, losing the opportunity in North America to the Dutch, poured their colonial efforts elsewhere: South America, Australia, and of course, the Indian Subcontinent. In this timeline, exploiting many events such as the fall of the Qing, the Great Game against Russia, etc., the British had entrenched themselves deeper into South Asia than in our own timeline. However, it did not take long for the populace in their South Asian territorial holdings to rise in revolt, inspired by the independence of former protectorates and colonies of the Dutch and Spanish. The Great War (not OTL's Great War, but this TL's own Great War that lasted from 1935to 1939) only exacerbated the situation, and multiple nation-states seized the opportunity and proclaimed their independence. With the loss of India, the British knew they had to change their global strategy to prevent their colonies from sliding under the influence of their rival, the National Republic of Russia.
