A powerful picture with an important message. Without the factory this would make a lovely sunset shot...but that's how life is. People go and ruin the beauty of nature, only thinking about themselves.
Good job, I'm faving this.

Very gloomy picture but a good gloomy in that it makes an important point on pollution.

Hi John
I'm actually not online, just used a friends machine to check out my message-center, if anything urgent.
Man, I'm really glad about your DD; you really deserved that! What I say - you actually deserve much more than that, and I'm sure, you'll get it. In that sense...
Congrats, my friend

THis is REALLY good. It makes me think of how much I hate what humans do sometimes. I really hope that this gets out somehow so that people actually see what is going on. I dont think a lot of them actually comprehend it and take nature for granted.
Very nice shot!

Ah. Man could not be more obviously wreaking havoc on nature then this photo could show. LOVE the geese (or whatever bird they may happen to be) gliding across the water, (presumablly) the factory churning the it; the sublime sweep of sky marred by raging pollutants. For a serious issue, you depict it quite beautifully.

great photo, the black factory as the focus polluting the now oddly coloured sky, making the innocent ducks look inferior and vulnerable.

oh humans....oh humans, sometimes I hate to call myself one...just thinking of the millions of problems we make, how much we kill each other for no apparent reasons....makes me want to cry....
....nature on the other hand lives by rules, us humans, think that whatever we see, must be ours....whatever we touch needs to be taken...whatever we dream, must be acomplished...and it wouldn't strike me as odd that nature will take its wrath upon us, a bit histerical? nah...just a bit concerned on the road us "humans" (if we can call ourselves sentient beings) are walking towards too...
...no wonder 2012 will be an awesome year
and concerning this picture...well....what I said above, thats my opinion on this.

so beautifully sad... great shot Love the message as well. Now if only you could put an anti-war spin on the image, lol you'd have my thoughts about humanity summed up to a T.

good dramatic sky, even better is the refelction of it on the water... excellent detail. to me the best part of this shot is the reflection of the smokestack on the water, how it is transformed with jagged edges and long horizontal streaks, looks almost like an abstract painting. also a good contrast in the industrial/nature dichotomy.
Excellent. Congratulations on the DD.

ok, i get what you are trying to say here and really like the imgae, but umm that's steam. not smoke. Volcanoes give off more volatile toxins than that plant does.

I very much understand where you're coming from with this picture...I used to be an extreme environmentalist...
it's an excllent photograph too..
I suggest you read the Celestine Prophecy, and Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

I live on the Indian River lagoon, and you might be surprised but things like power plants are actually beneficial in many ways. That won't excuse the atmospheric problems they create. But Man and Nature can exist and progress. I work at Kennedy Space Center.. which has some pretty volatile substances, but it is also on of floridas few natural wildlife refuges. and btw nice capture.. especially like the detail in the smoke, that is difficult to get under the lighting. Good job.

People seem so light-hearted about it.
"Stupid progress"
"so environmentalist"
But it's a serious issue. Excellent picture, especially the ducks detail.
