the way you word it it sound like he is missing one of his hands and hes holding it in the other, that gives me an idea what if he had sort of and amputated arm so it looks like a war wound?

War wounds from his life before a crystal project wouldn't be relevant. They'd been healed by the transformation.

Well, the crystal project is basically an experiment that got out of control. Who started it is unknown, but the first project was Ace. In his previous life he was a testing dummy and a weaponsmith (for which the testing was usually needed). He got kidnapped and they did certain things to him. After he woke up, he was no longer a matoran, but looked like a toa. Though, lacking any elemental power, he found that he had great survival knowledge and a whole lot of combat-experience. And so the "Crystal Team" was started.
