I think you might be a bad influence on the young Gem's impressionable mind, Pearl.Also here you see how this redemption au works - I headcanon that that hand shaped ship was pretty dang important and expensive, and Jasper and Peridot don't wanna face the consequences of losing it because they would be unpleasant, so the dorito and big buff cheeto puff decided to hang around Steven and co to at least have strength in numbers whenever Yellow Diamond sends something nasty after them.
