Description
The upcoming weekend here in Sweden is traditionally one of remembering the spirits of our dear departed. This year I've been given the honorable task of making memory marbles for no less than four lost feline companions. I know how deeply it's possible to love an animal so I take this task very seriously. It felt like the right week to do it.
Making glass spheres for the first time since my hand was borked up in 2016; first time working with ash from cremated beings. I think they turned out beautifully and I am very happy with them. They also "feel right" when I hold them. It's hard to explain.
It's taken me quite some time to complete these; it felt a little bit like we needed to get acquainted better before we were ready for the crafting itself. I've done the design for years, even including burned hair from loved ones. This was the first time I used cremation ash. I've seen several examples since it's common in USA, but Sweden have different laws about the material.
Here is Blomman, Basse. I am honored I was given the task.
I am most grateful for the commission as well as the great patience shown by the owners. I can't rush these days if things are going to get done right. This is a victory for me, in many ways.
Many of you know I haven't posted lampwork in a while.
