Frustrating and brilliant in the same time. There's something very hypnotic about this photo, as I keep on staring at the area where the text stops abruptly and is caught behind waste. Veiled critique against consumerism, is it - yet it still speaks in a loud tone, almost yells.. a new way to look at trash. Old products in new packages. Beautiful decay.

In addition, something very abstract came to my mind. The secondary lights, two on the ceiling and the one reflecting on the floor.. combine them with a line and you get a triangle. Artificial trinity?

Totally great idea and excellent title for this shot!
For me it's like that there's so much trash (commercial) that is surrounded in our daily life we don't realize it anymore, but with the eye looking to me as a sort of a advertising and the text written that says A New Way To Look At gets it back to mind and to take time and think it over.
Really professional and the border underlines that quality. Excellent work and

Thanks for the fav Commercial trash is indeed everywhere. But isn't it good to know we can at least try and make art out of it?

Yes indeed, esp. if such great artist like you are can change it to a high quality level of art.
Love your works!

That's the best use of a thick border that I've seen before. Usually I don't like borders greater than 5-10% of the image size, but this looks really good. I think that the color gradient really matches the image well.

So I guess it's a new way to look at trash?

Thanks for the comment.

A new way to look at trash... partially. Also a new way to look at commercialism, a new way to look at surroundings you take as ordinary, a new way for a new way to look at consumer culture (realizing that the advertisers are looking at you) ... and so on. The point, I guess, is it's always good to look at everything in a new way.

Very creative, I like the depth and the visuals, themselves..nice mood and expression, great tones and contrasts, the light bouncing off the floor adds to the mood. Well done, you've managed to capture images within the image, beautiful work and good eye.

I really can not find the words to say why I like this picture so much, but I just do, ok, it looks like a soda machine lit up in a dark room kinda...I dunno, but it's a new fave of mine! You have beautiful work...

welder In reply to kt-art [2003-09-19 00:34:23 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Not a soda machine, just an advertisement board with a trash can positioned nearby.

Thank you, I really appreciate it

an eye for an eye??....u pick up ur subject with considerable thot it seems and the irony does not go unnoticed...oh...and the placement is perfect...dunno if it was intentional or the trash bucket was anyways placed there...damn good

however i personally find the border distracting...but well thats just mah opinion..its just that the top gradient is too sharp a contrast while the lower color sort of moves with the picture...am i making sense?..

ignore please...*grin*...but i do love the shot

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

welder In reply to divinities [2003-09-18 21:48:56 +0000 UTC]

I saw the trashcan there and that helped my eye catch the shot in the first place

As far as the gradient, I kind of figured some would like it and some wouldn't, so it's okay, I won't hold it against you

Thanks for the comment.

A new way to look at... a trashbin?

I like the look of that photo. That commercial is so bright - compared to the rest of the photo - that it seems to be like a gateway into another world.

I am not sure about the really massive border you choosed for that one, but that's just my opinion.

awesome ambience - im wondering if teh center part was maniped in or if it was part of the poster? has a really nice glow to it - the ambient light looks very professional - almost as if it was planned that way.

love the colors in the backgroudn and the gorgeous colors of the poster

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

welder In reply to darkened-flame [2003-09-17 23:22:46 +0000 UTC]

The centere of the eye in the center is as I found it and unmanipulated....I basically used it as my reference point and tried to adjust all the levels around it to make it stand out. The white of the poster I touched up a bit just because it was a a little dirty and I wanted a clean look to it, and then softened its edges slightly.

Interesting shot, this is very cool art. A new way to view, keep the eyes open and focused. The color balance is great, the fact that the trash bin is in front acts as a shield to me, showing you that even partially covered you can see. Being open minded, your view is endless if you open up and see everything. Actually alot like i said in my journal, if you focus on the leaf you are not seeig all, but if you focus on the tree you will see everything...
