The Cursed sword: Jade of Abyss.Stories of the sword: The Nameless Blacksmith
There are many famous blacksmiths in the land of Lannet, and even more that are unknown but spend their life in the art of metal working.
One of those unknown blacksmiths found an eerie piece of orb while mining for iron. The incredible smooth surface and the indescribe-able beauty charmed the heart of the blacksmith, he then dug around and found 2 more of the orbs. He felt accomplished and went home early that day.
The second day, He was feeling a strong urge to work on a new sword. Wearing his new pendant made with the eerie orb, he worked fast and the rope which tied the orb to his neck caught on fire; the orb fell into the hot blade. Before he could pick it up, it melted into the blade. As the blade gained the same charm as the orb, the blacksmith had a sudden vision of it becoming a masterpiece. so he hammered away with even more enthusiasm.
2 days later, he showed the masterpiece to his ever supportive wife. However, his wife was behaving strangely and was disgusted by the blade. Unable to understand her views, the Blacksmith could not stop his happiness.
As the blacksmith showed his blade around town, fame and wealth came his way, He was ecstatic, as he had waited for such a day for all his life. He spend his new fortune on wines, fine dinners with his friends and supporters. To top his happiness, his wife was pregnant 2 weeks later.
However...just 3 days later, his wife died. He called in the best doctors in all of Lannet, but no one could find out why she died. The blacksmith was crushed and mourned for months. He survived only by looking at the fine blade.
3 years later, The blacksmith re-married with one of the most beautiful woman in his town; but his happiness did not last long as his second wife suffered the same mystery death as the previous. With great sadness he took his own life with the very blade that made him wealthy.
All this time, No one called him by his name but only, the blacksmith of the orb blade.
The blade was passed onto his first and last pupil after his death but just like him, the pupil could never marry a woman and have a child. a year later, The pupil took his own life just like his master did.
The blade kept changing hands over the years, and countless stories remained about the orb blade which took the lives of wifes of its owner.
and Thus, it came to be known later, as the Cursed sword :jade of the abyss.

Your description captures almost everything I would have predicted, and more than a few things I wouldn't have even considered.
One thing I'll mention is the fact that perhaps a clue to the fertility issue could be embodied within the Tsuka's design, and, more obviously, in the elegant background.
Another masterpiece, my friend. You can write 'em as well as you can draw 'em. ^_^

As usual, the blade is exquisite. And I couldn't help but notice that the demon-like figure on the blade appears feminine.
Perhaps she was jealous, and wanted to be the only thing in her wielder's heart?

Love the work that you do... one thing though...the Japenese characters were never engraved on the blade they were always put under the handle on the tang...just a thought from a sword collector

Great design! Forgive me if anyone else has said this, but it reminds me of the weapon backgrounds of Drakengard.

I love the serated edge along with the ultra sharp length. Highly detailed. Seems like a lot of thought went into this picture. Nicely done. I also like the background how its detailed, but it is monotoned to remain as the backgraound and not take away from the beauty of the blade. So... Is it a Katana, Wakizashi, Daito or is it something very different from any other sword? Its beautiful.
