Species Pumpard

Physical Description Little, lean, and long are the best words to describe her physically: only about twenty inches tall at the shoulder, long-built and stocky she is built more for mobility than to be a tank. She has a lot of a leopard's bulk and balance mixed with a cougar's strength. Her fur is brown like a puma's with a mix of dark brown leopard's rossettes and cougar-cub-type spotting that will be retained as she ages. She has a dark face and muzzle (another trait from her dad) and bright inquisitive blue eyes.

Personality, Biography, and History

Personality:
Ifrit is incredibly curious about the world and how everything works in it. Her focus however is in cat-movement: what makes a cat move? How does it move? What is better for certain positions? It is questions like this that have helped her become the apprentice to an armor-maker. She likes to be paws-on, feeling how a cat is supposed to move and building based on that rather than merely taking orders for how to build something. This tendency leads her to often watch practice-fights, sometimes interrupting in order stand on the back of one of the combatants or hold a limb as they deliver a blow--much to the irritation of apprentices and mentors alike.
Passionate, once an idea has occured to her, Ifrit will focus whole-heartedly on exploring it until she is satisfied. This can lead to her being narrow-minded, focusing on one part rather than a whole. Her passion can also lead to her to doing before asking, such as interrupting sparring matches to climb onto one of the combatant's backs or seizing a leg without seeking permission first. She never means to irritate them, she just becomes overly-excited.
Excitable, the world of the Empires is new and fascinating to her. It doesn't take much to make her excited or catch her interest. Her enthusiasm helps drive her when working, but can also get her into trouble.

Her excitability does not make her noisey however. Cub isn't a cat prone to outbursts or loud talking. If someone says something that catches her interest, she is much more likely to fall completely silent or start murmuring to herself than to shout or yowl. She has a soft, quiet voice but doesn't have too much trouble speaking up if fighting with the sounds of her trade.
Incredibly jovial, it's hard to find a day when Cub isn't smiling about something. She likes to see others happy as well and can be counted on to sit and listen to others' troubles...as long as nothing distracts her.
Her bravery is somewhat of a double-edged sword. Her confidence makes her hard to deter once she gets an idea...for better or for worse. If she is tasked with protecting someone or something there is very little that could force her to leave. Alternately, if she is focused on an armor design not even the appearance of a Bounty Hunter could tear her away. She also is less cautious than perhaps she should be when meeting new cats.
Her naivety isn't so much due to her not knowing the dangers of the world as her not caring. She has a philosopher's view that it is better to enjoy life than to fear death so isn't afraid to take risks if they seem worth taking.

Quirks
Her straightforward attitude makes her unafraid to take what she wants. If she wants a cat to come to the smithy for an armor-fitting or help with a design she is likely to just go track them down and push them back to the cave. She asks for them to come before she does of course, but she doesn't always stop for a response and there is a surprising amount of strength packed into her tiny frame. Because she grew up with two much older companions and she is still young she has a few childish traits such as a habit of curling up to sleep a little closer than Rasqa might like or be used to or seeking someone to trail if her mentor is away. She isn't especially needy but if she feels lonely she has a tendency to find the nearest living thing and follow them around until something distracts her or they send her away.
She has an odd habit of sneaking into the apprentice or gladiator dens during quiet days and falling asleep in a random member's nest.

Biography
Ifrit doesn't remember where she was born, but for as long as she can remember she lived as the pet of a traveling philosopher and his other cat: a quiet persian leopard named Horus. He would move from village to village, showing the cub and her adult companion to people and proposing ideas about the innate likeness of all regardless of how they looked and using her as an example of what could happen when two different species came together. Growing up under such a spotlight, the cub quickly became used to the feeling of eyes on her and eventually to ignoring it. The inquisitive fingers of children taught her how to be patient with others. Her master treated her and Horus well, and she quickly picked up an interest in philosophy from him becoming just as curious about the world as he was. In his travels, her master would often go to watch the local colosseum fights and she would come along, learning to become fascinated with the way a fighting cat moves and protects itself. She was able to go with him because of her small stature, looped over his shoulders or standing in his lap as she craned her neck to watch the combatants. She saw many different types of armor in their travels, worn by man, bear, and cat alike and so started to get a good idea of what was a successful design for specific fighting types and what was not.
The trio were on their way to Massilia to see one of the "big" colosseums in action when they were attacked by a troupe of thieves. The untrained leopard, peaceful man and young pumpard didn't stand a chance against them and were soon separated. In the chaos Ifrit got lost, wandering into the wilderness trying to find her way back to her comrades. Before she could find them, she ran across a pair of Empire cats training. Fascinated, she approached them to ask about their armor and ended up going back to camp with them. With her knowledge and fascination with armor, the half-grown cub managed to convince their leader to allow her to study alongside the resident blacksmith, Rasqa. Her traveling lifestyle has left her restless. This, mixed with her life of only two other constant companions and only one other cat, makes her excitable and eager to work. Time will tell if she will settle or if this energy will persist.

About half-way through her first year with Ice she was on a caravan raid with her mentor and a few gladiators and apprentices. The raid was successful, but somewhere amidst the chaos her mentor went missing and was presumed captured. Cub kept upbeat despite the loss of her mentor, but being left alone in the forge didn't help with her clingy tendencies. Whenever she got a break from making or repairing armor or sorting supplies, she would slip out to "observe" sparring cats (often ending up in their faces, predictably).
