It was rather hard to make, and I wanted to make it for a long time, but thanks to InkDarkinq for helping me work on these references.
My four little babies that I love to death and will never leave them! Meet their references, guys!
Now, I tied these references together in one big artwork because I thought it would be a little bit wrong to upload each characters separately, because these four almost always come together.

I have a few questions which I intend as helpful criticism.
1. Who is Drawin? they are mentioned in Ferret's backstory, but not explained.
2. Why is Ferret an Alicorn? As a character, he has a good backstory, but it isn't even mentioned how he became an alicorn, what he is the alicorn of, etc...?
3. Derrator's talent is playing guitar, but his cutie mark is several "Ciders". The cutie mark of a pony is directly tied to their talent, but I can't see how a couple mugs of cider are related to playing guitar?

1. You already know, I'll add a link to her reference a little later..
2. As I said previously, those characters were created back in 2013, and this is more or less Ferret's older design. I intend to remove his wings and turn him back into a unicorn, because I'm not pleased of having an alicorn character anymore. I just need a little more time with re-drawing them, since writing takes less time than drawing. (Ferrets bio was updated recently).
3. Derrator is quite a character, who never stands in one place. His cutiemark is more of a representation of his character and how he likes to hang out with his three other friends; Ferret, Heavyrain and Way, than his actual talent/ what he's good at. He completely ignores his cutiemark and learns new things every day, not bothering to understand his cutiemark's mearing in any way. He doesn't want to understand what he's really good at, so he started to take guitar lessons and seemed to enjoy it very much. After that he considered guitar as his talent and tells that to everyone who asks him about his cutiemark: ”My butt has no right to tell me what I'm good or bad at. I can do whatever I want whenever I want and be good at anything I want to be good at. I am the one who decides that, not some random picture on my butt.”. I know that cutiemarks are clear representation of their owner and they won't change their fates after appearing, but in Derrator's case: he wants to change as much as he can.
Keep in mind that those characters are still in very busy development, so those things said above might not be official and change later on, because I'm still working on those characters.

2. Oh! Alright, I didn't realize he wasn't supposed to be an alicorn anymore. Does the unicorn with the artificial wings get to keep them? Cause those things are cool.
3. Ah! Ok, that makes a lot of sense. That's a good reason for the discrepancy.
4. How did these gents all meet? They seem like crazy fun characters to have in your brain. I guess their tale takes place 1000 years ago, before the banishment of nightmare moon? Or are they from a severe AU?

Answering just 4, because I think it's a good point to end 1,2 and 3^^
Derrator and Mint Way used to be good friends since childhood. Then, after many years they just kinda found each other and Way decided to stick with Derrator for his own safety. Way has family connections with Heavyrain - they're cousins and, as I wrote in Ferret's and Heavyrain's bios - they used to be good friends with Drawin in between.
This entire story takes place a few years before the Crystal Empire was conquered by King Sombra and then, after Ferret loosing his magic everything moves forward to many many many years later, when the Crystal Empire re-appeared.

these guys are so cool woah!!!! i love the idea of a poetry pony!! mint way is super cute! poor guy tho ); did he used to write that kind of super-pretentious poetry when he was all pompous still? thats like, a really funny image to me haha
either way aaa what a cute character i love him!! it has Absolutely Nothing to do with the fact that i live in baltimore LOL i think i like heavy rain's design the most though, character aside. im usually not a big fan of blue-red-black colorschemes but you totally managed to pull it off! also, his wing is SUPER cool omg

And the reason I like Heavyrain so much is because more or less, he seems the most evil of the four XD

Now I hope you don't mind me asking a few more questions:
-How did Way get that wound on his left ear? And was "Wayley Forth" his original name before he changed it to "Mint Way"?
-Was Derrator inspired by Danglars before Danglarjacks even existed? His bio and appearance reminds me so much of Danglars, but I know you created him before Danglarjacks showed up ^^
-Did Heavyrains blue rose-cutie mark turn bloody after he turned into a vampire? If so, that would be an awesome detail

This kickass cutiemark is the hardest one to draw each time
-Way got his ear wounded after a tiny accident where Der got insanely drunk and started to throw knives at every side, what harmed Way in the luckiest way. And his original name was Walley Forth (when I created his name I made a mistake in there, which I decided to leave as it is), but Forth originally stands for the word Fortress, but since in 2013 I didn't know how to write this word with no mistakes I shorten it
-I think I told you already, that Derrator was a character inspired by Indiana Jones and Capitan Jack Sparrow, since I love these two to death. Danglars wasn't such a drunkass, sadly
-And yes, his cutiemark changed when he became a vampire. Nice that you guessed that

Heavyrain didn't know about the Empire disappearance before, and when he found out he couldn't find out what happened to Drawin until a thousand years passed and Drawin reappeared in Equestria, and Ferret is not a pure blooded alicorn, so he couldn't possibly live up to one thousand years, so he managed to find a spell in Canterlot's library that helped him jump to the future of after one thousand years, and he also convinced Way to come with him and help him with the spell, but he wouldn't agree to come without Derrator, so all three decided to jump to the future, but the spell went all wrong and all three of them by accident got trapped between time and space and only one thousand years later they managed to break free, and they didn't get old at all.
This part is still a work in progress, but this is the basis that I wrote back in 2013^^
