When I read this I feel like somebody is nagging me and telling me something along the lines of "There are people with worse problems than you, so stop moaning about your problems because I say so"... Darned be the appeal by guilt.

haha XD well, that wasn't exactly what i aimed for but i can see why you might perceive it like that, it's understandable. but i just want you to keep in mind that instead of seeing the negative side of it, you could see the positive side of it. as bad as it gets, there is always something to be thankful for. and don't take things for granted because you never know how much you could lose.
i'm sorry you feel guilty, all i wanted to do was put a smile on people's faces really..

The message is all true and well, but the suggestion (as in the DD comment) that everyone would feel so happy about being alive and not having these/most issues to deal with is unbelievably naive. Life and happiness are so much more complex. You have no idea.
I am glad there are other people who can get comfort from this message, though.

haha it's okay, got a lot of comments on the suggester's comment. i just want people to know that she is one of my active watchers and she probably instantly understood my intention when she saw this.
being a person who is surrounded by people who have been depressed, i do know the difference between life and happiness. and given that i have been in dark place in my life and hit a couple of bad streaks, i would know the difference.
but i hoped that a reminder of how much there is to appreciate could make someone feel better.

This has been a horrible year for my family, and I really needed this message to put it all in perspective. We have had trials and stress, but we are still fortunate in what we do have. Thanks for sharing this, and nice work with the typography!

wow that was a lot of comments!!! Sorry that you got so many negative ones, I get those types of comments a lot too :/ some people have nothing better to do than pick faults in things i guess and why people assume that others can only care about things that effect them (i.e. the comments you got on here implying that you must be too poor to have a computer or to read or you wouldn't have made this) are just odd... of course people can care about things that do not effect them dirrectly, and of course people can care about other people - even ones they have ot met.

its deviant art, she allowed comments, and did not request only compliments, this piece has some pretty big problems with its facts and premises alone
such as implicitly stating at the bottom that 3 billion people cannot read english and are therefore less fortunate for it, I'm sure she MEANT to imply 3 billion people are illiterate, but she did not say that, she said 3 billion are less fortunate because they cannot read ENGLISH, which is terribly ego-centric

Fair enough, I have no problem with people pointing out inaccuracies, it's just some people did it in a fairly nasty mannor and others where saying things that really just made no sense when you think about them (such as impling that the author wouldn't care about this unless they were int he situration in which case they couldn't have a computer to make this :/ )

And your guilt is natural in a way, it's hard to see things objectively when you don't really have a sense of what the big picture is. Stuff like this are helpful reminders though.
