Hey, Happy New Year! And I only just remembered that it is also Colin Morgan's birthday (yay, Happy Birthday!) so what a fantastic coincidence that I'm ready to post this piece today! XD I just wanted to draw/paint his face... yet again... but I'll admit I got carried away over the holiday, what with all this blessed free time.So have some scales (which are a bit more suited for an oriental dragon, but, meh...) and a coin pendant (it reads KING ARTHUR - ALBION, if it's hard to make out). If you're familiar with the show, you might recognize my attempts at symbolism, haha. Anyway, these elements were new to try for me, so definitely not perfect, but it all was fun and challenging all the same.
Oh, hope things don't look too dark and contrasted on your screen, I've noticed quite a difference between my laptop and other monitor, bah... D:
I suppose this could also be a commemorative piece for the end of Merlin's 4th season... ah, so horrible that we have to wait until the Fall for the next one... Well, at least Sherlock's second season starts today! Another lovely coincidence, eh?

I'm serious, where is his boyfriend? I mean, his king. I see he is wearing a mark of his affection (the coin) which I am sure that Arthur carelessly tossed on the floor and Merlin now treasures as a mark of his affection even though Arthur probably doesn't even remember dropping it like the self obsessed jerk that he is. Really Merlin, get a life, you can do so much better than him.
Or maybe not, this is the Dark Ages we're talking about and even if everyone is shirtless and working for Morgana apparently the only hot dude around these parts that Merlin ever notices is the blond who married a chick anyway. Appearances you understand.
Also, the hair is awesome. I have a thing for dark hair, jsyk.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you've been reading too much Merthur fic! Well, I meant for the coin to symbolize their destiny (together), being "two sides of the same coin" and all (it's a running theme). Merlin is literally on the other side of that coin, you see. I am clever like that! Still, I enjoy this narrative of yours, and accept it as plausible. Add a couple thousand words and it would make a charming fic. I may even endorse it!
Why would Merlin pay attention to an underground cavern full of shirtless, sweaty men when he can look forward to his duty of personally bathing the King?
