Description ... of Harry Potter's magical journey? Well, something like that. (sort of a play on words with Dumbledore's inscription on the snitch)

This is my entry for the traditional Harry Potter Fan Art Contest that *Suanin is holding. Take a look, there's plenty of fantastic entries already! I may do something else, as two per person is permitted.

It's Harry, almost eleven, with his Hogwarts acceptance letter, and unaware of his destiny - and Harry, nearly seven years later, snitch in hand, and accepting his fate. This will definitely make more sense if you've read all the books...

Just pencil.

Wow, well I'm flattered, and maybe a bit baffled, that someone would want something so permanent, of my work... but if you really want to, sure! If and when you actually decide to get it done, I hope it turns out well, and that you enjoy it always. ^_^

A couple others were depressed by this, too, lol. Can't help but wonder why, exactly, since it wasn't REALLY the end for Harry right then. Hm... is it 'cause he just had such a hard seven years, or that the books are finished? I'm certainly sad about that! lol Anyway, thank you for the fave! ^_^

I dunno, I just thought that bit when he's walking to his death in the forest was one of the saddest moments EVER. Obviously you knew JK wasn't gonna kill him but the fact that he thought he was going to die yet still went ahead with it was so gut-wrenching. And don't even get me started on when Remus, Sirius, James and Lily came out of that goddamn resurrection stone.
And your picture's amazing, capturing the hope and innocence in 'the Open' and then the weary resignation i 'the Close. Beautiful. Well done.

Ah, yes, it was terribly heart-wrenching when those four came out to stay by Harry's side. I'll admit that I suddenly had doubts about Harry's survival during that scene, but then I was so relieved...

Thank you, for the wonderful response. ^_^

I'm quite gutted cos first time I read it I was bawling my eyes out over Remus and totally missed the end of the book. So I had to reread it and there was a slight loss of impact as I vaguely knew how things turned out aha. But no matter what, you can't knock that forest scene. Or even the bit in Dumbledore's office when Harry finally realises what he ahs to do...

Hehe no problem - it was well deserved, my friend.

Oh my GOD, what an incredible idea!!!! God, it's perfect. I've been analysing the series a lot, because I once did a huge literary analysis of it, but I didn't think of the "open" part as Harry opening the letter, wow, this is incredible. Thank you. I adore it.

Oh, thank you!!! I'm really glad you like my idea, that's always nice to hear!

Eh, a literary analysis of Harry Potter? That would certainly be a challenge - albeit more interesting than many things I've had to write about before, haha. ^_^

I plan to reread the books after all the films are done... just to reassociate myself with the details of what really went on, haha.

Nah, the Sorting Hat ain't mine - I've only one entry, and I'm happy you like it so much. Dunno if I'll win, there's so many fantastic pieces that clearly took much more time and effort than this, but thanks all the same for your kind support! Much thanks for the fave as well!

I think it was Professor McGonagall who was supposed to have written the letter...but anyway. This is a great picture, and the idea of juxtaposing those two scenes was just brilliant. Great work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

whimsycatcher In reply to JoeMerl [2009-06-18 05:59:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I've just removed the writing! lol The barely legible neon letters were bugging me, so I decided that this might look better for the time being.

I suppose it was just as well, 'cause I think you're right about McGonagall! I just had it in my mind that it was Dumbledore who wrote things in emerald-green, but it could be a staff thing.

Anyway, thank you for the comment - and fave! I'm so glad you like the work. ^_^
