Done! My payment for ~Shmickins 's commission is done, done, done!And I cannot stress to you how much this looks like complete and utter crap next to the original. I hate my scanner. Icki -- trust me, when you get this in the mail, you are gonna wonder how I survive with such a crummy scanner.
Here it is! Be amazed, because, yes, that is a background. No, it's not a very good one, but by my standards, anything is impressive.
And I LOVE using those colors. Pretty golds.

Thanks! I'm trying to come up with a good way for me to do backgrounds...colored pencils just ain't cutting it for wide coverage. I'm contemplating getting a nice set of watercolors....they shouldn't be as glaring as acrylics would be.

use water color, and then go over it wit hcolored pencil, that makes stuff real pretty =3

I'm gonna try. Every time I work with watercolors it turns out...odd. But I shall learn!! Yes I will. And the going over with colored pencils is an EXCELLENT bit of advice. That way you've already got a perfect flat base color for it, and you don't have to worry about the little white dots of scanner doom.

Well you should buy some 8 X 11 bristol paper. Otherwise known as cardstock I believe. Not sure. hmm. Anyways, the paper kind of krinkles but not so much and you can flatten it out later afterwards anyways.

Thanks! I'll snag some when I get the colors. =] I know that one of the reasons I've been dreading it is because the paper always wrinkles and curls when it gets wet.

yea, be sure to minimise the amount of water you use. I also recommend tube water colors. They are richer in color, cake ones aren't as purdy.
Get water color brushes aswell. They absorb the water more and stuff =3

You are just fulla handy dandy information. I didn't even know watercolors CAME in tubes. How do you use them then? Do you need a special palatte for them?

LOL, well, it's not tiny, but it is pretty small. I think I had to put it at about 30% of the scanned in size...normally I only have to do 50%.
I'm going to try and take a digital photo of it and see if it turns out a little better. =] Mebbe I'll scrap it if it comes out okay. =]

So adorable, Whisker! -huggles teh branch- I love the one hugging the thing and yawning.. it's so cute! The other one sitting down on the floor having its paw around the branch is looking really innocent and lovable.. and the last little cub is all downy and fluffy!
And I love the mother. Goodness, the face is perfect. <3 It looks feline enough for me. And the fur is marvellous.. I can see the stroking and detailing. Great job, Whisker! xD
