Also, when you draw the eye (i.e. upper eyelid, lower eyelid, etc.) do you use black or a color that's similar to the skin? It might come down to preference, but I assume the lineart won't get losst in the shading...

I tend to shade with a color's compliment, for example I'd shade blue with a drag orange.
The line art is more of a guide than a main feature. I view it as a tool for guiding my colors. C:

Hey I'd never thought about it this way, you're right. I usually try to draw eyes like footballs and focus too much on the center of the mouth and not the corners.Β
