In case you didn't know, fairies really like rock and roll. They enjoy mimicking human rock stars and putting on their own concerts. This one is impersonating David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust because Glam is particularly popular in the fairy realm--generally the more sparkly, loud, and disrespectful the music is the better. Punk and Metal are also really popular choices for this reason.

This is the first in what will be my glam fairies series, although not all of my fairies will be glam and not all of the series will be fairies. I was just getting a little bored with two-dimensional artwork and was inspired to revert to my old habit of making fairy creatures out of polymer after seeing some really amazing art dolls and one of a kind fairies on ebay. I haven't really done any fantasy work like this since I was in middle school, but what better way to combine my two loves for the supernatural and for decadent, filthy rock and roll? I think in a way there already is a natural connection between the two, and that's what fascinates me.
