Description Okay, so I'm slowly learning how to render things.  I've got no real idea what I'm doing.  The first renders that I did a long time ago of The Mariner were too glossy, so I thought I'd go a bit rougher this time.  I think I swung too far the other way.  I'll get it right at some point.  But, it takes forever for the computer to make these, so my learning curve is really slow.

As usual, this is just a picture.  If you like the design, you can download the model here:

Feel free to use this ship on your own (not profit stuff).  If you do use it, let me know; I'd like to see.  Also, feel free to update textures and things, I'm not great at painting my ships.

This is reminiscent of the warship Titanic from the mystery game of the same name

Hahaha! Not warship, but cruiseliner! The Starship Titanic is still my favorite starship design. (The game was excellent and I played it often. The book was one of Douglas Adams' weaker works.) It's so unique with it's extreme art deco styling.

I have been heavily influenced by that design in many of my ships

I'm glad for that!  I'm using Kerkythea.  Upside is that it's free.  Downside is that it takes for freaking ever to render anything!  This one took 2.5 days!  I've got another render coming using my old laptop, but it doesn't have the processing power to do anything complicated.   Also, the blotchy-ness of the areas in shadow, I'm told, is the inadequacy of the program.

I liked the way the bussard collectors came out, but I forgot to turn on some of the windows, so the ship looks empty.  oops
