Description More Faeries! This time featuring the Summer Court. Left to right: Titania, Lady of Light and Life and the Summer Queen; Fix, the Summer Knight; Lily, the Summer Lady; and Eldest Gruff, oldest and most powerful of the Gruffs and champion of the Summer Court. I think I made Fix look too pretty.

Titania is just perfect Queen.
Fix looks great, not too handsome but having that aura around him.
Lily is cute, next to door look.
Elder Gruff looks badass and reminds us why fairy tales were told as warnings.

Oh My. Titania... She looks like she stepped straight out of Cold Days when she was talking to Harry at the Magic Hedge. Wow. (The other three are great too, but Titania really takes the cake.)

Definitely getting a 'Regal' look off Titania.

Titania is just too perfect here. I have no words.

Fix, well, I always thought of him as kind of short and skinny, but as Summer Knight, it makes sense for him to be more like this. I think the book actually says this.

Lily's my favorite part of this. I love her expression.

As for Elder Gruff, he is EXACTLY as I see him.

I love this. I really do.

There is nothing more I want on this godly earth than for Eldest Gruff to bring me a doughnut. That would be good.

Beautiful, but I most love Titania. I think she suffered from protagonist oriented morality ( when something seems bad, even if it isn't because it doesn't comforts protagonist). Harry could justΒ  kill Aurora quickly, he didn't have to force pixies to do " death of thousand cuts" as he says. When you addΒ  faeries tendency to return everything you did to them exactly, and that she is Summer, or Seelie, generally benevolent but dangerous when they are angry at you, it's wonder that she didn't killed Harry when they were talking. And it's implied that while Mab has overly complicated plans, Titania simply does what is best, and she protects reality from Mab, who battlesΒ  Outsiders, and she and summers are combat medics, while Winter just battle ( light and fire destroy dark and ice). Winter knight assssins people, Fix protects them, because unlike in modern retellings, Winters aren't smarter and Summers aren't dumb muscles./

Wasn't Eldest Gruff supposed to be bigger than that? I'm not sure if the book described him that way or just my left over imagination from the third Gruff.

Actually, that was the subject of one of JB's throw-you-for-a-loop scenes. The Eldest Gruff is approaching, and the whole time Harry can't see him his footsteps are nigh-thunderous. And then he beats the crap out of one of the Blackened Denarians without raising a sweat. Then he enters Harry's line of sight.... and he's this tiny little goat-headed guy.

Judge my by my size, do you?

He got Harry a very nice doughnut.

And now the Summer fae...

Β

Eldest Gruff looks a bit too mean considering how personable he turned out to be. Fix doesΒ look a little twee. Lily and Titania are pretty much exactly how I imagined them.

Β

Got plans for any more of these character sets? Denarians? More fae? Hapless mortals (Butters!!)? Animals? You certainly have plenty of characters to choose from.

wildcard24 In reply to Karalora [2013-09-11 15:53:29 +0000 UTC]

Well I imagine that's how Gruff would look to someone he wasn't nice to. And yeah, Fix looks too 'twee', despite my efforts. And yes, I'm planning to do some more sets, I'm thinking more of Harry's allies, the Senior Council, the Wardens, the Denarians, then when I feel like it, maaybe a set of vampire villains, the Heirs of Kemmler, and some assorted villain sets.

Crimsonberry [2013-08-31 06:02:19 +0000 UTC]

Technically, the way Butcher describes him makes it Β hard to picture how he actually looks. It's all very vague with hints of 'not handsome' and 'but he looked more courageous' sorts of things hehe. I enjoy what you did with him though. Loving the gals, and Gruff looks just like he was described in the books, too. With being a knight of Summer, you would think that he would get good looks alongside the whole 'closer to the fae' thing, right? *shrugs at Butcher*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

wildcard24 In reply to Crimsonberry [2013-09-01 05:48:28 +0000 UTC]

Well I remember him being described as 'not going to win awards for his looks' but rather that his appeal comes off from the confidence he exudes. And in Cold Days, he was describes as wearing 'faerie mail', so I took that detail and ran with it.)

GothicBlackAngel [2013-08-29 20:04:27 +0000 UTC]

Ohh, I like Titania! I don't really remember how she was described in the book because that scene was... not one of Butcher's best. She looks awesome here though.

Eldest Gruff is a BAMF.

Oddly enough just this morning I had the realisation that Fix must have had sex with Titania... for some reason the idea weirds me out a little bit. Although it does explain why he's so smug now.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

wildcard24 In reply to GothicBlackAngel [2013-08-31 03:50:59 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Well, she was described as looking exactly like Mab, except more...Summer-y. The outfit is mostly artistic license. And hmm I'm not quite sure that's how they roll as well over at the Summer Court, but if it is, then Fix is one lucky bastard.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GothicBlackAngel In reply to wildcard24 [2013-08-31 09:42:26 +0000 UTC]

It would make sense... Mab took Harry to the Stone Table to make him her Knight, that's where the transfer of power happens. Although I just re-read that passage in Summer Knight and it was Lily who chose him, as she was the one with the mantle... so either he did it with Lily or... I don't know.
I still think that would be the common procedure, I doubt sex is something more of Winter than of Summer. Jim doesn't seem that kind of person...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

wildcard24 In reply to GothicBlackAngel [2013-09-01 05:35:01 +0000 UTC]

I think the whole sex thing with Mab was more symbolic of her power and possession over her Knight, since that's more in line with the nature of Winter, and hence, Mab. Summer is portrayed as being generally more benevolent and nurturing than Summer, so their ritual might be different. Who knows though, it'd probably be a fun thing to ask Butcher if you ever encounter him )
