Currently going through the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher, an urban fantasy series starring Harry Dresden, a wizard and private investigator operating out of modern day Chicago who deals with cases involving the supernatural and things that go bump in the night, and fights the forces of darkness to protect the innocent and uphold the Laws of Magic. Highly, highly recommended for those looking to get into a series filled with great characters, genuinely intriguing plotlines, and awesome action, not to mention a good deal of wiseassery and snark courtesy of the title character. Planning to do a series of fanart featuring the series' many characters. This is the first, featuring the 'main' cast:From left to right:

I never truly realized how dang short Murphy is. She's shorted then Harry's shoulder!

she was allways described as 5 feet nothing. And in one book Harry had no problem to hold a paintball gun in shooting position over her head while walking behind her

These are really good.Β The only issue that i have at all is the fact that Thomas' melee weapon is a kukri, not a scimitar.
That on minor issue aside, Fantastic work over all.
Edit: never mind, i see the kukri on the other hip, and i do remember he has a scimitar as well.

I'd like to see the Dresden Files turned into a series of movies. The TV show was alright, but I think they'd do better as movies, provided they're given the Peter Jackson treatment.

Harry's inner monologue is one of the best parts and does most of the info-dumps, so they'd have to alter the storytelling method a lot.

Karrin Murphy definitely has that look of badassery around her.Β She looks cute too, but has this air of "call me cute and say goodbye to your nads" about her.

I swear, your DF character illustrations are the best I've ever seen! I especially like Thomas here, posing with his signature weapons and looking all vamped-out and creepy-sexy, just the right balance between "masculine" and "pretty-boy."

I rather enjoy this. I think out of the four molly is the only one that nags at me a little. Her eyes look pupil-less, and if I remember correctly she had blue and pink hair in Proven Guilty. Beyond that this is wonderful and I absolutely love Harry here, he looks awesome

Can I just say, I really like the way you've drawn the women. They have a real sense of power, and you haven't just gone for the skinny 'cute' look. Murphy in particular looks like she can kick serious butt! And I love your Harry.

Your Harry about where in the books did you take your inspiration?

Well I went with how he usually describes himself in the books: tall, gangly, lean and angular face with hair shorter in front than the back.

Have you ever thought of doing an entire page of just Harry throughout the books? Just with what been published so far the character has gone from 23-25 to almost 40. That's a long time.
You have the young gets over his head with just to goons of the first couple of books. The beginning to get comfortable with his power of the next three. The Lash years. (this is where I think you took your inspiration from for your image of Harry sans left black glove.) The Warden Battle wizard where he's taking on everyone from gods to the Red King and doing it back soulfire. And then finally ghost Harry and Winter Knight Harry.
That would be an interesting retrospective IMHO

Hmm, that's an interesting concept, though not sure yet how distinct each version will be besides becoming more worn and ragged-looking. Besides, I have still have quite a number of sets planned (the series has a LOT of characters), but I might look into this idea more after I've gone through the rest. Thanks for the idea though!!

Try reading through Side Jobs. Tomas and Karen's views of Harry are great for added material. Also think about how 'normal' people age during 15 years. There is a lot there. Enough that it might help push your boundaries a bit as a visual artist.
Also never underestimate props. Harry's canvas duster in Storm front and Fools Moon. The Difference between hell and soul fire. His anger issues while Lash is corrupting him. People were seeing Harry as different, they talk to him about it. How?
BTW I'm pushing because I like your stuff and I love the books.
