‘Runs away screaming’ SORRY!!!! You guys should know by now that I have no control over my imagination! Though I do want to dedicate it to the only three D/P fans I’ve had the pleasure of talking to here on DA; ~deaderrose , ~jakanine and ~CelestialtheHedgirdAnyways, this was inspired by the running ‘Paulina Fenton’ joke. It turned out a little differently then I planned.
Here we have Momma Paulina (looking surprisingly mature. Parenthood does that to people, I’m told…) and her baby Fentons watching Daddy on TV. (A Fenton family tradition.) Before anybody asked, none of the kids have names and I don’t plan on using them again. But so help me, if I catch anyone using them without my permission, I’ll make you regret it for the rest of your life.Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to barricade my door against angry D/S fans…

I can actually see this happening!
Danny and Sam would continue to have a relationship until college where everything does change since, sometimes, not everything stays the same.
Danny and Sam broke up and try to be friends again, ensuing the awkwardness that happens in the first couple of tries of being friends, and then we would have Danny and Paulina have an interesting development in relationship.
I love this ship!

On the one hand, we have the main character crushing on shallow hot girl who loves his heroic alter ego and wants nothing to do with him and other hand, we have the main character hooking up with his female friend, since friends of the opposite gender never stay 'just friends'.
My point being, both D/P and D/S are flawed.

Agreed, but at least D/P is workable. With D/S, what you see is what you get; and what you get is Sam, whose opinionated and makes large public displays when she doesn't get her way. Kind of reminds me of...her parents...who Sam argues she's nothing like...yeah...copy and paste typical teenage rebellion anyone?
But with Paulina, you never learn much, and who people portray themselves as during high school can be very different from who they actually are. Her home life could be crap, and giving off the image of the shallow beautiful teenage girl is, while a stereotype, pretty normal, thus a good cover so nobody thought she would have something other than a likewise normal home life. Just look at Daniel Fenton. He's the bottom of the social rung, having been so since before he became Phantom, and that's half because he's short and skinny, and half because his parents are the town nuts. Paulina wanting nothing to do with Daniel Fenton is understandable if she had a bad home situation because that would just be giving her negative attention. As for her interest in Danny Phantom, it could just be a way to draw the hero's attention so they could privately meet and beg him to get her the hell out of there. Or, in a darker perspective, her home life is so bad, she's considered suicide to get away, yet hasn't for fear that the pervasive feeling of being alone would remain, and seeks Phantom out in the hope that if she did take her own life, he would help her become a ghost or, at the least, find and be with her after she died so she wouldn't be alone.
That's just one kind of broad way you can play with a character like Paulina that the main series doesn't let you learn much about. I write a lot of fanfics and play around with many different ideas, and this is one of them. There's also the 'she grows up and matures' thing, which is done to death by everyone and their grandmother, and 'she stays the same but you love her regardless', but at least they're more fun to play around with than working relationships with Sam (too many problems, too overdone, and just flat out too easy).

Not to mention Sam was a bit of a creator's pet and the D/S relationship was more or less forced by the writers.

Again, agreed. I get the feeling that none of the writers for the series had much to any kind of skill with romantic or relationship concepts. Hero falls in love, or in this case 'realizes' he is in love, with their best friend is a pretty cheap and easy out that requires little effort on their part. Maybe if they brought someone in that was better at this, it could have made the D/S more believable, something that actually developed instead of just...happened.
Then again, if they did that, I think the series would have ended with the Danny/Valerie pairing instead, as those two seem to fit much better due to being so similar in maturity and perspective.
At least the writers left behind very fertile ground behind for people like us to make fanfics with.

Admittedly, I'm a big DxS fan, but lately I''ve been going for this pairing even more. (Especially with Apprenticeship, and this one shot I read, and pretty much anything that can make it BELIEVABLE.)

I thougth DxS was cute too, when I first started watching DP. Then the last season came out and it became stale, awkward, hurried and poorly done, so I rebelled against it a bit and started looking at other pairings. I'm glad I did, too. It opened up my creativity and introduced me to other fans I never really talked to before.

I still think it's a good pairing, and it's definitely plausible, but it was SERIOUSLY rushed in the third season. So many characters got pushed out of the way *coughcoughTUCKERcoughcough*. There was a lot of character development missed, too, like for Dash, Paulina, Kwan, and the like.

Mmm, because the characters are too one dementional in the series. I adore Trixie actually, since they actually took the time to flesh her out and make her interesting in FoP. They really didn't do that with Paulina, which disappointed me.

I don't think I have ever seen a Paulina Fenton picture, but very nice job. I do actually see it as a possibility though I am a D/S supporter with D/V comin in a close second. Nice job and adorable kids.

I'm a D/S shipper, myself, but I think that this is actually plausible, in some alternate universe. It's great to see that someone recognizes that while Paulina is currently a bitch, that doesn't mean that she can't change and become a better person.
