This is set shortly after "Autumn Mud" . Jeanne and her platoon reach their objective and everything is about to get really nasty.
Jeanne and her platoon are all armed with what was called in our world "Mousqueton Mle 1886 M93 R35", basically a cut down Lebel 1886 rifle.
Since on the Lebel the magazine is a tube located under the barrel, the ammunition supply is cut down accordingly to only three rounds, exactly like the "Mousqueton Mle 1896 Berthier". Unlike the latter though, the Lebel is still loaded one cartridge at a time rather than using en bloc clips.
