Description:
Captain of the Black Sun and leader of the Flint Pirates. Born to Lady of the Gold Dragon Clan Morganna Flint, Jon and his brother Alexander grew up in a fairly lavish upbringing on their homeworld of Avalon. However, when Jon was thirteen, the Empire ambushed their mother’s ship in the Ephesus System. Knowing that neither she nor her flagship, the Morgan le Fay, would survive as she had been inflicted with a gut wound, Morganna had Jon and Alex take off in a shuttle in the middle of the battle and flee as far as they could. Now orphaned and left alone, Jon was forced to become a full-fledged pirate at a young age in order to support himself and his younger brother, who joined him later on. Rather than joining a crew permanently however, Jon and Alex traveled from ship to ship as “pirates for hire”, staying on for one raid with a certain crew and the moving on to another. Often times, Jon would take command of a raid, either directing commands from the mothership or leading the raiding party himself, thus establishing his reputation as a gifted leader as well as making many wonder why he was reluctant to captain his own ship.

Eventually however, it would all change. After completing one assignment, Jon, in a seemingly random act, would save the life of a mysterious woman from an Imperial Marine group that was pursuing her. After escaping their pursuers, Lorelei, having heard of the brothers' reputation, offers an alliance with them: in exchange for their hired service to her, she would benefit them with a starship. Although the brothers are initially hesitant to have anything to do with her, Lorelei then reveals that the ship in question is an umbra, a cloak capable stealth ship. At that, the opportunity to gain their own ship and lives as true pirates proves too much for either of the Flints. As soon as Jon accepts, Lorelei immediately offers the brothers the location of the prototype Imperial umbra U-7501, a warship unlike any other constructed. With the aid of a hastily comprised crew of fellow pirates and former Imperial umbramen, the Flints and their patron are able to capture the U-7501 from a secret Imperial umbra basin in the Rochelle System and then take her to a safe haven. From there, they assemble a more permanent crew to run her - with Jon serving as Captain and Alex as First Officer - and rechristen her the Black Sun. So begins the real story of the Flint Brothers and their band.

Having been trained since birth to fight as well as being forced to enter piracy himself at a very young age, Jon is a prodigy commander that is fully capable of captaining the Black Sun to utmost efficiency. As a pirate, Jon likes to employ the Black Sun's stealth capabilities for attacking ships, whether be it warships or freighters. He always takes an extra step to avoid being seen or detected by his quarry - to the point where by the time he strikes, it will always seem from out of nowhere. He is also a cunning long term strategist, oft times making seemingly insignificant acts that would only come to full realization later on, much to the misfortune of his opponents. And in the short term he is a gifted tactician capable of making the best out of any type of situation.

Besides being an effective commander, Jon is also a true warrior. He is gifted with high level physical capabilities, including great strength and endurance, as well as great senses. Along with these, he prefers his Devilblade Astaroth in combat, but should he need more conventional firepower he keeps a custom Trafalgar M906 pistol on hand for backup purposes. Besides hand-to-hand combat, Jon is especially skilled in the cockpit of his Corsair, being an ace level pilot as well as an effective fighter squadron leader, such that he is able to fight alongside the Black Sun’s fighter complement as “Corsair Zero”. On his off time, Jon often engages in mock dogfights with Charlotte "Boss" Boyington, the Black Sun’s fighter commander and Jon's piloting instructor years ago.

Despite his leadership skills however, one of Jon’s main points is that he does not trust anyone nor does he let any other being come close to him on an emotional level aside from Alex. While he can be a team player and operate alongside others, he does so believing that it’s only in their common interest to work together and that the other being(s) can turn on him at any moment should a better offer arise. But even with that inherent distrust of others, if only for the sake of principal and personal honor, Jon will still go out of his way to look out, help or save those he considers under his charge, namely the crew of the Black Sun. Because of this, many look up to the elder Flint and see him in similar light to his mother.

Outside of combat and command, one of Jon’s main passions is his love for art and antiquity. This namely takes the form in his large collection books, music and visos (movies), much of which are classics originally conceived in mankind's First Age. Among these, he is quite fond of literature, and so can often be seen with a book - a physical book - in hand during his off time. His favorite amongst these is an ancient copy of Treasure Island, one reportedly an original leftover from the First Age itself, which had belonged to his mother and is more than likely the origin of his infamous surname, as much of the late Morganna's past remains unknown to this day. For music, he has a wide variety of interest, but mainly prefers classical music - songs from Ancient Terra that have withstood the test of time even when their original creators remain long forgotten - and even goes as far as to keep a portable music player on his person at all times. And finally for visos, he has an interest in virtually every genre, once more with a preference toward classics.
