The Black Sun's science officer and Flint Pirates’ patron. Possibly one of the most mysterious beings in the known universe, Lorelei is, at least according to herself, an archaeologist, scientist and scholar that holds interest in the various ancient ruins around the galaxy. In particular, Lorelei claims that she is looking for "Arcadia", which is a name that's been identified off a number of ruins to date. What Arcadia is or what it means is unknown; some think it's a planet, others an ancient weapon and many other theories surround it. However, since many outlying factions are also interested in Arcadia, there is a sort of "race" to find and claim it. Thus, in exchange for the service of the crew of the Black Sun in finding clues toward Arcadia, Lorelei benefits them with her vast knowledge and resources, as well as her vast telepathic and telekinetic abilities.

Due to her "profession", Lorelei isn’t just another wandering sentient. She is a very cultured and educated woman who possesses a working knowledge of various subjects, such as mathematics, science, history, philosophy and fine arts. She is a gifted linguist, evidenced by her being able to understand many dialects in the outside galaxy even without the usage of a translator or at times her telepathy, as well as being one of the few known people that can read ancient writing, including those of the Predecessors, without aid of any kind. In fact, she is seemingly the only individual in the galaxy who is capable of completely translating the Predecessors' hieroglyphs. Her knowledge of the Predecessors' language is so great that Lorelei is even been able to understand their technology, as well as outright utilize it.

Above all else however, Lorelei is a schemer and manipulator, in which she utilizes cunning alongside her telepathy and telekinesis to work behind the scenes, so that every event and situation will go toward her direction. Knowing that the galaxy around her is hostile and unpredictable, she purposely plans things several steps ahead and to the finest detail so that the desired result can be achieved through great efficiency. And even when things do not go according to her plans exactly, she is quite able to make up new plans, whether they are a continuation of her original agenda or a retreat strategy, on the spot and without much time. Just as well, she is not above cheating or misleading others into following her plans, and even outright extortion is not beyond her modus operadi. As such, very few on the Black Sun fully trust her, but at the same time she has made it clear to them that as long as they aid her in her search for Arcadia, then she will not betray them, though at times it may seem that way to everyone but her.

Besides her quest to search out Arcadia, Lorelei also makes due in the universe by being a professional thief that specializes in ancient artifacts. Her primary targets are the rich and the upper crust of society, who she sees as wasteful; indeed more often than not, the people she robs from know very little about their treasures other than it looking good on a shelf somewhere. Once more she is a staunch schemer in this area, planning out elaborate operations that appear complex at times, yet when they come together the outcome is simple: she has the object(s) in question and nobody else knows what happened. Such operations are so successful in fact, that the Empire has only recently put out a bounty on her arrest (something Lorelei purposely fashioned in order to gain an underworld identity), in which she was given the epithet "White Siren" and labeled as one of the most dangerous thieves in the galaxy.

On a more personal level, Lorelei is very flirtatious and chiding yet mysterious. Often she will come across as quite friendly and pleasant, even to those hostile to her, while at the same time expertly dodging any questions aimed toward herself. She holds a certain curiosity toward the universe, along with a sense of adventure to explore it all. As well, true to her alias, Lorelei is a gifted songstress. Many have claimed her voice to be even superior to that of a Lyran's, while simultaneously possessing the light and purity of an angel alongside the tempting nature and dark allure of a demoness. Naturally, one of Lorelei's most preferred covers is the singer Undine, who mysteriously appears at will to give a live performance before a bewildered crowd, only to disappear once more when that performance has ended. Within the Flint Pirates however, Lorelei heads an impromptu band called the Psirens (in which she also serves as the lead singer), who regularly perform for the rest of the crew.

But perhaps the trait that stands out most - perhaps even more than her drive for Arcadia - is the curiosity and fondness that she holds toward her "hired" captain, Jonathan Flint. From the first day they "met", Jon would have a large effect on Lorelei when he, almost at complete randomness, stood up for her against an Imperial Marine unit sent in to capture her. While the elder Flint initially made it clear that he doesn't think too much of her, Lorelei seemingly thinks the world of Jon. In fact, through a myriad of events and actions on the pirate captain’s part, Lorelei has come to believe that underneath Jon's dark personality lies something rare and unique from the universe at large. Because of these and several other reasons, the thief and songstress continually attempts to close the gap between herself and the Black Sun's captain, while also taking on a far darker disposition if Jon is threatened in any way, something that even the most powerful individuals in the galaxy can be wary of.
