The year was 1993 — and it was the 30th Anniversary of both the Avengers and the X-Men. Two powerful Marvel superhero teams with a lot of connective tissue between them. So they decided to celebrate with a giant crossover event saga. Hold onto your butts — this is AVENGERS/X-MEN: BLOODTIES!⁣

Meanwhile, in space (no, really):⁣
⁣
In Earth orbit sits Avalon, the astroid/space station created by Magneto as a mutant sanctuary. And aboard Avalon stands Peter Rasputin, the mutant and former X-Man known as Colossus (because he can turn his body into living steel) -- and he is brooding. As he watches over the now mind-wiped and comatose body of Magneto, he ponders his fate. He left the X-Men for Avalon after the death of his younger sister Illyana. But now he doubts his choices. His melancholy is only interrupted by the entrance of Magneto’s loyal 2nd in command, Exodus. Honestly, it’s not important to the story at all, but I thought there were nerds out there who really needed to see a picture of Colossus.⁣

Anyway, back planetoid, in Genosha, a LOT was happening. Xavier’s team arrived, and he and east IMMEDIATELY ditched Gyrich. They snuck off to rendezvous with a Human-Mutate alliance group. Unbeknownst to them, U.S. Agent also sneakily snuck along with their own sneaky sneaking.⁣

Across the island, the X-Men land and almost immediately run into resistance from a group of mutates called The Unforgiven. They should have been called the Unmemorable because yuck. These guys are lame. Anyway, at least there was fighting, right? Fighting is cool.
