Description
In 1939, Dave McKay was a private in the Unites States Military when he was recruited for the army new science combat program, build to use the latest science to create the perfect solider for combat. all the test subjects died save McKay who realized that his skin had hardened and became dense to the touch and could resist puncture and was dubbed 'Iron Hide' by the military and given a colorful costume to boost morale in the trenches. it was only after a few successfull battles that McKay learned that he was being pulled fro the front lines as the new science program has been destroyed by Nazi spies and that McKay was the key to rediscovering their secrets. It was only after yrs of work after the war that the military moved the project off the books and kept its knowledge to only a select few, scientist feared that the experiments that made McKay successful would run their course and no trace would be left, so a machine has built by Dr. Finley and his team of scientists, a prototype chamber for cryonic freezing was used on McKay. For yrs McKay slept as science slowly advanced enough to try and figure out the secret that made him the hero could be duplicated, but as the program was off the books it slowly fell victim to lack of funding and those that could fight for its reinstatement where forgot as was McKay. it was only after a power surge damaged the already aging machines that unlocked the chamber and McKay awoke in a time not his own.
He know fights street level crime with his old costume hoping to do good until the formula in his system wears out, hiding from the government that he felt forgot about him. pledging that no one should have the power to make an army of soilders like him and so must never let himself be captured.
this is my 3rd attempt at this character as the previous version didn't have the look the old pulp look I was going for with this character. I see him riding a custom ww2 era motorcycle. I wanted him to be a 'man out of time' like character, his origin is very much a captain American meets the Mel Gibson movie 'forever young'.
what do you guys think.

This is sooo perfect.
He reminds me of my own legacy character - also a density manipulator with "pulp-style." The Stone Shadow. There've been four generations of them, but they all pretend to be the same, otherworldly ghost.

Captain America + "forever young" + Ferro Lad of the Legion of Super Heroes, then. Esp. with that square-jawed helmet.
Me? I'm always a sucker for those kinds of single-breast coats or jackets.

I can see the ferro lad, bit. I was more thinking it came out more dr fate, with the ear slit.

Really cool; the style definitely has a pulp-y kind of look to it and I love the way you did the block shading.
