Description Here is a portrait of Cate Blanchett for *jensequel who suggested I draw her! I used a reference photo that I really liked..I think the actresses is quite stunning with dark hair... the file you see here is a bit larger than the actual size of the drawing, which is 2.5 by 3.5 inches. I think this is a fairly good likeness...well compared to my other portrait work that is! Maybe I'm *gasp* improving...

Jen: I just did a google search for the reference, but if you have a photo of Cate that you really like, or a favorite site, let me know!

The eyes are great, really expressive. And the structure of her face.

Thank you! I'm going to try my hand at another Cate portrait, as every time I see this I feel like it looks less and less like her, but I had fun drawing it!!! And that's the point, right?

I love your realism. This is a great portrait and you've done some fabulous pencilwork!

And hey, you still need to tell me what you want me to draw you for winning a prize in my contest!

Aw, thanks! I kind of like the way I used the pencil here...better than on my Cate Blanchett portrait..I'm doing another of her though, and will try to emulate this style more on that one! Thank you

And gosh... I'm still so happy that you liked my watercolor! well, I'd really like a drawing of Midnight...one of my original characters..I'd ahk you to draw Violet...but Midnight's more interesting...I'll try and get you a reference pic, but I'll let you design it the way you want as far as hair or outfit go... I'l note you with a reference pic when I find one! Thank you!!

I really like the nose and her mouth.
I think this is better than the last portrait.
I can't really tell her hair being dark though, since I tends to compare the intenseness of the shading in hair with the skin shading.

That's a good point! Thanks I'll see if I can make her hair darker in the portrait, because it was actually close to black in the photo..I was so busy on the face, I got lazy with the hair >.<

Aw You're welcome! And I enjoy drawing her, as she has really distictive features, so if you did have a favorite photo, I'd love to give it a go...

I hope I'm getting better I'm going for two portraits a day untill school starts again, to warm up my not-really-there drawing skills, as I'm taking Begining Drawing with the same professor I had in my 2D class! Stilllife's though.....*shudder* Though I do think he will have some models come in, I heard him talking about it with another prof...

Oh...wow...a request? Gosh I feel guilty asking for one from you...but not so guilty that I won't! Um...James Spader! Just kidding...I'm not sure how comfortable you are with drawing men...so if not him...then... Cathrine Zeta Jones? Or Sarah Brightman! She has such big pretty eyes! I'll let you pick. Thank you!

Don't worry about when you finish it...I'm going to be here for a while And thank you! *is all excited*

Oh, I love toutorials....I have your painting one on my hard drive somewhere.... I actually made a Cat toutorial a few years ago...for the musical Cats...not cat animals... I wish i had some skill to actually make another, it was fun... Is your upcoming tout in watercolor? Or is it drawing? when I first started out with portraits I would do a feature at a time, now I'm trying to map out the face as a whole before I work really hard on just the mouth or the eye or whatever...

LOL..it's funny, when ideas come, they come in torrents...too bad I don't get this inspired when I have artists block! I can't wait to see your next painting! I really look forward to your submissions...and your lingerie pieces are nice..I was thinking of joining the pin-up community here, but I don;t have enough of that type of work in my gallery >.< I actually have a drawing of that kind in outline form waiting for me to paint, but I've been too afraid of ruining it to work further! Heck..I'll go trace it....

Oh, you're welcome, I don't gush over people work unless I think it's good, and you are good. Wow, building your house is going to keep you insanely busy! Just installing wooden floring in our old house was a pian in the ear. I wish you lots of luck and smooth sailing!

Yeah, I don't think I'll be joining anything until summer, but hey that gives me lots of time to play around..I'd really like your opinion on the one I said I'm tracing I'm trying to figure out whether I'll color it with watercolors or with the computer....

Speaking of pin-up art, do you go over to the PantsPress Shetchblog at all? Some of the girls there will ocasionaly post some, and MishMow (I think?) is very good... she currently has "Chubby Birthday Dance" posted...too cute! Here is a [link] if you haven't already seen it!

Hmmm.. It sounds like re-modeling a house is a good way to learn about building one...I actually like watching "This Old House" I mess the old host with the glasses and Norm (Don't really remember Bob Vila!) But the new guy is cute, so that makes up for it.... Ask This Old House is interesting as well... we are thinking of putting some tile in the downstairs, lots of mud going on in there, as we have a front entrance and an back entrance that leads out to the back yard...

Yes, try searching the previous entries of that site I gave you, cause some of the really good stuff they don't post on their sites! LOL, I had one friend who I asked advice from, she gave it ..then I took the piece home worked some more on it..and next time I saw her she asked "why didn't you change that and that?!" I told her I didn't want to and she asked why I had wanted her advice to begin with, and I told her just because I didn't take it didn't mean I didn't value her opinion As you can probably tell, she wasn't an artist! Artists seem to understand these things more...

Oh, speaking of remodeling...mom told me I could use the spae bedroom for my studio! I can put my computer there as well...which will be nice..I have too many books, and currently don't have a dresser to put clothes in >.< As there is no room for one in my bedroom >.< Do you know anything about Murals? How more precicely, how to make them temporary?
