Description This is the finished graphite version of Stevie Nicks...I'll do the colored one soon...I'm still not happy with her face (I don't think it looks much like her) but I'll give it another go with the colored version... >.< I still love the photo...

Full View Please: I worked hard on this thing and I want you all to see her hand! (Which looked like a flipper in the photo..)

This is absolutely gorgeous.

(By the way, I really love The Other Side Of The Mirror; not my favorite or anything but it's still a great album that deserves more praise than it gets).

Thank you so much! I had a hard time with her face, but had fun with the rest of it..

I have actually not heard much of her music..I'm more of a Nightwish/Apococlyptica/Arc Gotic/ and Celtic rock kinda gal....but as a fashion icon, Stevie Nicks Is too cool

Thanks for your comment

Nicely done! the flow of her dress is exceptionally wanderful and the pose adds to her attitude Love the b&w tiled floor as well. good job!

Thanks! I was actually trying out my realism here, as I was working from a photograph...the dress is this really rich red color..gorgeous... I had a major hard time trying to get it to look like Stevie, but it's still off, oh well!

It turned out quite beautiful! I have a problem working from photos when it comes to portraits and such, I can do it, but I'd rather draw from real life if thats what it consists of.

Thank you!, and I agree about real life, I wish I could afford for Stevie Nicks to come to my home and pose in that same dress, but untill then, I'll use the photo, LOL

LOL, we should kidnap Danny Elfman just so's we can draw him

If we kidnap Danny Elfman I'm going to do more than just draw him, wife or not. lol

Wow, you seriously did an awesome job on this! the hair is gorgeous, and the face (even though it doesn't look just like her) is beautiful nonetheless. love the pose too...
great job!

So, was she wearing that dress in the photo? It looks like it could be one of your designs. I like the details on the cuffs and bodice, and her face looks very good! You did a great job on this. Say did you do this one on marker paper too?....You had mentioned doing graphites on marker paper earlier.

WoolSocks In reply to Tsukiyono-Miyu [2004-07-11 19:15:17 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! And thank you for comparing the dress to something I would design..I didn't, but I'm really flattered I love the dress..
[link] That's a picture of it... I really want to draw more of her..her outfits are wonderful..and try to go visit her site..Her original artwork is beautiful..she's really talented ()_() [link]

Yes, I drew this on marker paper..I could have made the darks darker if I wanted, but was feeling lazy >.< The marker paper is wonderful, beacuse I erase constantly..and any paper that is less smooth (even the smooth bristol board) looks horrible if you erase more than two or three times..marker paper can really take a beating...

Cool, I'll check out the link....you know the Japanese comic paper I was talking about erases easily, except you have to use one of those white erasers....I forget the tech term for them, but I would hazard a guess you already have one.

WoolSocks In reply to Tsukiyono-Miyu [2004-07-11 19:48:31 +0000 UTC]

LOL. yes! I do! I know what you mean..I love those things..I have them in the standard eraser form and in those little pen-like holders..I need to find some that are really, really small though..That's one reason why I like the kneded erases as well, you can give them very small tips.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tsukiyono-Miyu In reply to WoolSocks [2004-07-11 19:52:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I ususally use kneaded erasers for that very reason...also I don't like eraser fluffs lying around, but there are times when you need the white ones...heh

I often agonize over faces as well. But people tend to be able to tell who they are. I suppose we're our own worst critics. Not a bad thing, though. Can't wait for color.

I guess you're right..half the things folks don't like about their work, I don't even notice..I guess I'm more of a positive viewer than a negitive one... I would hate to be a fine art instructor..you're conditioned to constantly look for mistakes in art >.<

I'm going to start tracing the graphite drawing tonight!

Thank you!!! I drew her face over..like four or five times (felt like nine. >.< ) Her hand was ugly/funky looking in the photo..so I made her a new one... It would have looked terrible if I had drawn what I saw >.< Sometimes you just have to try to improve on the photo...

rockett-queen In reply to WoolSocks [2004-07-10 21:37:36 +0000 UTC]

Especially with little details like hands 'cause half the time they either blend together into a blob or are in some ugly pose that just doesn't look right.

I SO hate it when that happens..I'm all happy and ready to go and it doen't work...hmmm now I know how guys feel... Oh well...

I'm scaning Rikki now...

I have everyone's scraps watched too... I like looking at sketches and what the artist thinks "Isn't worth the label of deviation" ... Most people's scraps look better than my finished work >.<

LOL..I can't explain why I wanted to draw it either..I think it was the contrast..I'm going to make a colored version..so I can't wait to use the deep red for her dress
