The Squallthunder is one of Viggo Grimborns greatest success stories- an artificially bred hybrid made to dominate the Grimborn Tribes dragon fighting rings and serve as a practically unstoppable ground unit in a hypothetical dragon army. Its thought that said hybrid was commissioned in bulk from him by Drago Bludvist and Viggo, then head of the Grimborn Tribes dragon hunting empire, saw a business opportunity... many have since been rescued from the dragon fighting rings and the now dismantled dragon army by the Berk Dragon Academy. The Squallthunder was primarily employed as a ground unit and champion dragon fighter because of its heavy armor, unusually stable stance, and powerful forelimbs. The Squallthunder is also a highly intelligent dragon, and was well known by dragon fight hosts and dragon army soldiers alike for exploiting its opponents weaknesses and covering for its own, especially when facing opponents that its familiar with. Freed Squallthunders show a curious mix of the Thunderpedes docile temperament and the Stormcutters charicteristic pride. They also have a tendency to spend hours pummeling their preferred food (rocks) into managable chunks, and then hours cleaning the rock dust off their scales and grooming their scales back into place before bothering to actually eat any chunks. This dragon is also well known to spend hours cutting down trees, cutting them into managable chunks, and hauling timber at viking sawmills only to then spend hours grooming the sawdust off their scales and grooming their scales back into place. The Squallthunder is interestingly able to turn its head around a full 180 degrees, a trait which few Stormcutter hybrids seem to inherit...
