Description

This was one of those redesigns that I had to sit down and think about, because the Bubblegill is one of those... odd dragons, even without considering its cannon design. I wound up having to think about what would work with the Scauldron to create an interesting redesign, as the Bubblegill's cannon design already looks a bit like a scaled down Scauldron...

The issues I had with its design were:

- It had odd flipper/fin like wings, which made it look flightless, and yet it could (possibly) fly?

- It had odd, semi-frog like feet tacked onto rather ordinary looking dragon limbs

- What's with the odd head shape and knob like spines on it's back?

The Bubblegill is now an elusive, short tempered Skrill-Scauldron hybrid, which is equally comfortable high in the sky and deep underwater. This dragon, like most of its tidal class brethren, almost exclusively eats marine prey, preferring marine mammals over other types of prey, although schools of fish, krill, shellfish, and even sea urchins, starfish, and jellyfish are all taken as prey as well. The Bubblegill even eats other dragons on occasion, although incidents of this occurring rarely happen... or perhaps are rarely witnessed by vikings. The Bubblegill now has access to two different types of firepower- boiling water and electricity. It swallows water and stores it in large volumes in its cauldron like stomach, which it then heats to the waters boiling point. Like the Scauldron, it typically collects a shot in its mouth prior to spraying it at its target, causing its mouth to swell like a whale's throat pouch. The Bubblegill is also capable of charging itself in electrical storms and storing the electricity to be fire off later. This effectively gives it an unlimited shot limit in thunderstorms, adding to its already high water burst shot limit. The Bubblegill is able to hold its breath for hours at a time, but is unable to use its gills to breathe underwater. Instead, its gills allow it to breathe more efficiently when it rides lightning. This dragon is capable of flying (or swimming) for days on end without needing to rest, allowing to make a living in the open ocean, where they are seldom seen. This dragon only comes onto land to rest, breed, or lay eggs and nest, somewhat like a seal. This is when the short tempered part of its personality becomes most apparent- females with clutches (or hatchlings) don't tolerate other dragons getting within a wingspan's length of their offspring, and males violently clash over breeding rights, even fighting to the death in some instances. Outside of the breeding and nesting season, the Bubblegill is typically solitary, and hatchlings rarely stay under their mothers care for more than a few weeks after hatching. This dragon can be lured into a trap using metal objects, but it takes saving the dragon's life to actually train it.
