Description
I said I would be back but that took forever x)Here's an attempt to emulate a feature length animation.
The artwork was designed much like an animation studio would be working on the project, seperating the process in Pre-production, Production, and Post. Choosing flat colors for the characters in comparison to smoother shades of the background was also a choice based on how a studio would opt for hard shadows so animators could add the shadow layer through commonly used softwares like Toonboom or TvPaint.
Did a little research on subtitle fonts to find out people usually use Arial
Also added some film grain and Chromatic aberration (the Red channel is slihghtly shifted), and also slapped a wide screen band for extra movieness.
Does this look convincing to you? Would you have added something extra to make it more feature looking? Please share you thoughts

Going to be honest; Before even reading the description and title I immediately assumed it was a frame from a high fidelity MKV format film as seen in VLC player, right down to the subtitles. So convincing infact that I thought this was from an ACTUAL release. So to pull off that convincing illusion prior to reading the description is telling enough how convincing it is.

Not bad! It looks very realistic, like a screenshot from a DVD

Well done, concept and execution... As others have said, at first I thought the image was a screenshot of the video about to play.
You certainly should take it further.

Many thanks!
I plan to work further on this project. There are a few animators who use Photoshop for frame by frame animation. Currently I'm studying how it can work best in a pipeline production environment

It looks like such an awesome serial, the kind of stuff I'd be hooked on. AARRGH WHY IS THIS NOT REAL????

You could go around the internet pretending this is real, convincing everyone it's your favorite anime and driving them crazy trying to find episodes.

As my semester in university draws to an end I plan on scaling these emulations to a short sequence.
This helped me understand how far I can go within my drawing abilities and color treatment. Now I need to test this as an animation .
Thank you for the comment !

When I first saw it, I wondered: "Hew, where's that screenshot from?". So yeah, it's convincing, at least it was for me.

I love these, but I love them even more when they actually look like its a direct screenshot, lots of people get suckered into detail quickly, but this one pulls it off flawlessly.
Very damn convincing !

Thank you spacerogue!
I'm glad it managed to communicate the visual design I was aiming for! The next step is scaling this from an emulation into an animation shot

I really like how you used the filters to get the screenshot look!
The characters details make it really convincing that it's an animation!
I little info about the character would be nice!
