Description
Drawing done for ~lovelossinwar (I havent figured out how to do the "place avatar in text" thing yet)Anyways, it's his character Gavin Rhide. They guy is twenty-six and has had a pretty rough time of it up untill now, hence the scar over his eye. I won't give too much away, let lovelossinwar do that if he wants to. The gun is a semi-auto firing .45 caseless rounds. Why caseless? 'Cause I forgot to put an ejector on it.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the way this came out, expecially the pose. The hand and pistol grip look pathetic, but apart from that, I'm very happy with it. You know, if I put another scar over his other eye, gave him black hair and dropped him in a set of USMC BDU's then this could almost be The Scarecrow from Reilly books.
Anyways, have fun. Hope you like it lovelossinwar.

I love his pose, defiantly looking a little ticked off at something. I have to ask cause it's been on my mind alot. How do you know so much about guns? See I'm not very good at guns in this period or based on some wepon that exsist in the past cept for swords but I can make my own up thats about it ^_^

You know, it's strange, but it was pretty much a case of wakeing up one morning and just sort of thinking "hey, I want to know about guns". I already knew a bit about planes and cars (to the point of hearing an aircraft go over and being able to say "that's a...." without even looking, can't do it much any more ) and just decided that it was time to know stuff about firearms. Found a site called modern firearms ( [link] ) and a couple of manufactuers sites and stemmed from there. I'm the THE biggest gun nut I know. For example, I was in a movie at one time, can't remember which one it was. Anyway, the main character has produced a bullet from an envelope, and Shadowdevil has just gone "[Manufacturer that I can't remember] .45 hollow point."
I guess it just comes with the territory.

I wish i could wake up with the wanting to learn, i uselly just wake up and want to go back asleep ^-^ Erm on a point of reaserch ever heard of the "how to draw manga" range or art books? they helped me alot working out prportions and such but there is one just dedicated to guns. i mean your cool at them already and there amazing compared to anything I or af ew of my friends could do but i notice you sometimes complain about size or something and well this could help... just incase ^_^ not saying you need it but we all need a helping hadn every so often ^-^

Ah ha, it just depends on what you want to learn. Trust me, if it was school work, I'd roll over and go back to sleep as well
Yeah, I've heard of the "how to draw manga" books, read a couple. Although they were good, I didn't really find them the kind of thing I was looking for at the time. Found some stuff by Christopher Hart though that was really good, "Anime Mania" or something like that. It didn't so much teach you "how to draw" but more "how to make it look cool". I know I complain about size and stuff, it's just that SMALL WEAPONS PISS ME RIGHT OFF, most of the time. There are of course one or two exceptions to the rule. There was one golden rule that I found somewhere about drawing weapons, in fact I think it was on the online version of the "how to draw manga". Pretty much it ran "always draw weapons oversize, otherwise they look small and dinky and dumb." Best bit of advice I was ever given.
Anyways, have fun

ahhh anime mania i found helpful in a few ways but really it wasn't my style. I liked it more for the character descriptions and the artwork inside but I do like it.
Oh if I drew guns oversized they'd be to big to hold I don't often draw smallens ^-^

As always Wes, you amaze me with your attention to detail and your ability to create awesome charaters. Btw, you did the link thingy right but instead of the little "~" you type "dev" and then thier deviant name, all in those colens, like this:
:dev_wraith11:
With no underscore to make it work.
Cheers from me... lets do that for real sometime.....
