Hi guys! This is a new set of 12 artworks I did for the new Star Wars Essential Reader's Companion. Although the dateline for this book was a lot tighter it nevertheless was an enjoyable and rewarding experience.As with the last book I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the Reader's Companion. Enjoy!
An Entechment in process from the Truce At Bakura novel. The space raptors are called Ssi-ruuk and there are the ones torturing and sucking the life out of that the poor Imp officer using a contraption called an Entechment rig. The "life-energy" extracted is used as a power the Ssi-ruuk war-machine. The other human in the scene is Dev Sibwarra, using the force to calm the victim down. One of the few creepy scenes in the Star Wars universe IMO.

I only just read up on this whole Entechment thing, and hot damn, that makes these Ssi-ruuk that much more crazy interesting. And I was just wanting to check out the Truce at Bakura for the Anakin's spirit scenes, this makes me even more motivated to put on my EU reading list.

Ironically theΒ Ssi-ruuk apparently got their collective butts KICKED by the Vong. Sometimes it takes a greater monster to put down a lesser one I guess.

Very interesting depiction of the Ssi-Ruuk, almost dragonish. And the emotions in the humans faces are very well done

I guess that the Ssi-ruu behind Dev is Ivpikkis (the red one) and the yellow one is Firwirrung. Cool! But someone is missing: Bluescale!........
P.S. My first SW novel to read was The truce at Bakura. That is a really cool novel regardless of what others tell!
P.P.S. The Ssi-ruuk are pretty cool as a species, but there is something I find annoying (to a certain degree only!) at them: those nose tongues....can you imagine them flickering those in the air ?!

Brilliant work with this sequence and the Ssi-Ruuk. I've always found Truce at Bakura to be one of the most underrated novels in the EU. While taking place just post Episode VI, it none the less felt very original, not ridding the coat tails of 'Jedi like so many Clone Wars novels currently seem to ride the Series.
