Description
With this collection of color concepts, I've almost reached the end of my work on The Crystal Core . The birds in this image are various concepts for the currier bird, the final character I did designs for. As the name conveys, its function in the game was to deliver messages, and it was supposed to look magical and mysterious, as opposed to resembling a regular ol' bird. The designs at this stage were meant to evoke the minimal detail, somewhat abstract geometric stylings of the Native American Thunderbird legends, as well as the lines on a circuit board, in keeping with its role in a virtual world. The biggest question at this early design stage, as you can see, was what form it should take. Though eventually the entire coloring theme changed too.
