Lately there have been Fluttermac fans bashing Cheerilee due to her part in the upcoming Hearts and Hooves episode, mostly saying Fluttershy belongs with Big Macintosh.What?
Fluttershy and Big Macintosh have never shared one word with each other, yet people treat it like it's canon.
So far, all they've done is stand next to each other in several scenes in The Last Roundup.
In fact, you know which Mac pairing is the closest to being canon? Twimac.
In Season 1, Twilight was the only member of the Mane 6, aside from Applejack, who knew Big Mac existed (being introduced to him in Friendship is Magic Part 1 and talking about him with AJ in Applebuck Season). In Season 2, several indications that hint at Twimac have been shown to us (Big Mac licking Twilight in Return of Harmony Part 2 and Big Mac running off with Smarty Pants after the spell was lifted in Lesson Zero). But the biggest hint of all is that THEY ACTUALLY INTERACTED WITH EACH OTHER which is more than can be said for Fluttershy!
In fact, I don't really understand why Fluttermac is so popular in the first place! Why? Because she's the helpless damsel and he's the big, strong tough guy? Aren't we all a little sick of cliched pairings?

What comes more then meets the eye is ShiningMac. Properly is not as popular 'cause is yaoi, but i eventually don't agree what you were saying. People have been shipping FlutterMac because of theΒ Filli Vanilli. The reason why they don't talk to each other is because they were very quiet. (Which makes sense, 'cause Big Mac doesn't talk too often except to hisΒ siblings, and Fluttershy was soft-spoken.) but honestly, ShiningMac is not even cannon. Sure they were brothers to the mane 6, (Twilight Sparkle and Applejack respectively) but that gets too old to this ship now.

Some other Big Mac shippers might be a little to hard on Fluttermac shippers, but that doesn't justify Fluttermac fans going around screaming in other peoples' faces that Filli Vanilli made it 'canon'.

I agree with this so much. Big Macintosh and Fluttershy have not even talked together yet there's an entire rabid fanbase for the pairing acting as if it's 100% canon. I see it as another one of those annoying fan headcanons that got so popular that fans decided it was real. The only logical reason for so many fans to have decided to ship them that I can think of is because they're both shy. But I still do not think that's enough reason to start shipping a pairing. The characters involved should at least have some interactions in the series otherwise it falls under crack pairing category for me, no matter how mainstream and hyped it is.

And Filli Vanilli won't help. I only watched Twilight's Kingdom (both parts) from S4 and I still hate FlutterMac. Next thing ya know it they're gonna ponify a World Cup mascot and make him stand by Flutters and that's 'canon' for the bronies. Β

I laugh at the Filli Vanilli excuse thing for it being canon, because in one scene, Cheerilee was looking at Big Mac, fainted, etc. Even if I don't like Twimac, I don't mind shippers, as long as they don't flame Cheerimac shippers (Me!) Or other pairings.

That was NOT a Fluttermac episode. I'm sick of all the Fluttermac shippers going apeshit over the episode saying, "OH MAH GAWWD FLATURSHY AND BIG MAK HAD A LUV SEEN IN SEESON 4 FLATURMAK IZ CANUN!!!!!111!ONE11!!!11!" Fluttermac is NOT cannon. Fluttershy is with Discord (Don't go ballistic over the age matter) and Big Mac is with Cherillee (Watch the Hearts and Hooves Day special).
