Description
Lately there have been Fluttermac fans bashing Cheerilee due to her part in the upcoming Hearts and Hooves episode, mostly saying Fluttershy belongs with Big Macintosh. What?
Fluttershy and Big Macintosh have never shared one word with each other, yet people treat it like it's canon.
So far, all they've done is stand next to each other in several scenes in The Last Roundup.
In fact, you know which Mac pairing is the closest to being canon? Twimac.
In Season 1, Twilight was the only member of the Mane 6, aside from Applejack, who knew Big Mac existed (being introduced to him in Friendship is Magic Part 1 and talking about him with AJ in Applebuck Season). In Season 2, several indications that hint at Twimac have been shown to us (Big Mac licking Twilight in Return of Harmony Part 2 and Big Mac running off with Smarty Pants after the spell was lifted in Lesson Zero). But the biggest hint of all is that THEY ACTUALLY INTERACTED WITH EACH OTHER which is more than can be said for Fluttershy!
In fact, I don't really understand why Fluttermac is so popular in the first place! Why? Because she's the helpless damsel and he's the big, strong tough guy? Aren't we all a little sick of cliched pairings?

There are alot of problems in the world. People who don't just believe any questionable arguments tossed their way aren't the sole cause (if they are a cause at all). Again, you're getting way too offended over this. I don't even get why your vulgarity is needed...

The problem is people who refuse to be open to the idea that they might be wrong!

Are you open to it? Because the tone in the blog didn't seem like it and the one point that addressed my argument I swatted down with 2 examples.
I actually am open to accepting Lyra as Heartstrings, but not based on a questionable toy.

Yes I am, and I've since stepped back. I really don't care about the Lyra/Heartstrings thing that much. It's open to the individual.
My point earlier was that some people took offence to it.

"Heartstrings" is semi-canon at best, seeing as how the toys also gave a different name for one of the named ponies (Trixie, methinks, but I'm not sure).
Oh, and while no pairing is canon, at least one ship can point to canonical support. Hello there, Spike/Rarity. Okay, more of a starboard than an actual ship, but that's more than any other ship in the fandom has going for it...

Semi-canon is better than fanon. As a great man once said:
- Let’s rank canon regarding a fictional story. First, would be the primary source, for instance, the Doctor Who television series, the Star Wars movies, et cetera. Followed by the supplemental materials that have gone through the copyright holder, like Doctor Who novels and audio dramas, and Star Wars novels and the fucking Christmas Special! This is also known as ‘Extended Universe.’ Last and most certainly least, shit the fans made up to fill in the gaps!
So, for instance, if a Doctor Who novel talks about the Time War, and said someone named Faccinon was the President of Gallifrey during that time, that would be acceptable as canon. Until The End of Time airs, which established that Rassilon was President of Gallifrey. So the official source trumps the secondary source. But if earlier, the fans decided that Romana was President of Gallifrey during the Time War, even with consensus, when that book is released (that establishes Faccinon as President), they would have to be out of their minds to say, “well it hasn’t been established in the TV show yet, so we’ll stick with Romana!” But for some reason, with regards to My Little Pony, this is exactly what has happened. The toys went through Hasbro, just like every episode of the show, which means they qualify as a secondary source, or ‘Extended Universe.’ Their word is much more official than yours. - [link]
That guy's a genius, you should listen to him. But regarding Trixie/Lulumoon, Lulumoon is a glitter toy, so I'm not sure it's the exact same thing. But in the end it's probably up to the individual. I just like Heartstrings better than Lyra, that's all.

really, dont worry over every negative flip and flop of the fandom. with every episode released, new ideas and such break through our fanon. just post your opinion, ignore the pointless F u's, and let them QQ in their baby beds.
personally, i do like fluttermac
...
WELL WHO ELSE DO I STRAIGHT-SHIP HER WITH?
LOL

Like someone on tumblr put it;
Fluttermac is just the most popular Big Mac ships, I guess, cause both are mellow, shy, and quiet(?) idk, but that’s the reason why I don’t ship it, its boring.
TwiMac is my second favorite ship in MLP (after Dislestia), but FlutterMac fans are so obnoxious it's to the point that I'm okay with having TwiMac be sunk and let CheeriMac become canon, if only to be able to laugh at annoying fluttermac fans.

I highly doubt Cheerimac will become canon, since this is the Cutie Mark Crusaders we're talking about. Nothing ever works out the way they want it to, and the fact that they're using a love potion and that they're going to regret it helps enforce the notion.
Also I should add that part about Fluttermac being boring to the stamp's description.

The twimac shipper in me is saying yay, the troll in me is going to miss out on the delicious fluttermac tears though.

Um, guys? Calling people out on the ship not being canon is one thing, calling it boring is pushing it. Might as well go calling TwiMac strange because the two characters are chalk and cheese to one another from all we know. Love and tolerate, all of you, even when a ship has its obnoxious supporters, take comfort in those idiots being a minority.

I wouldn't say calling it boring is pushing it, because it isn't really offensive. If I were to call it stupid and against the character's personalities, then that'd be asking for a fight. If someone gets upset at someone describing their ship as boring I think they have problems.
If someone calls TwiMac chalk and cheese I don't care, if they think it's strange I don't have an issue explaining them my logic behind the ship.
And IDK, I've seen so many twimac pics spammed up by obnoxious fluttermac fans that it's hard to tell what is a minority. Not to mention that the MLP fandom has a bad habit of blowing crap out of proportion and forgetting that it's a little girls show they're watching.

That is why I said it's "pushing it", not that it's really out of line. Just taking steps to prevent escalation (not necessarily by you, but you know how comment chains like these can turn into wars quickly).
And compared to most other fandoms I've been in touch with, the idiots in MLP seem to me a distinct minority. I guess there are a handful of repeat offenders spamming pictures of ships they dislike, but every single fandom in existence has those, and MLP isn't nearly as bad as some others. The "love and tolerance" thing seems to actually work for the most part.

No not really. Boring is about as tame as it gets when it comes to openly disagreeing with a pairing. If someone takes it out of proportion, then that's their fault.
It's the opposite for me. I have never been in a fandom where people take things so out of freaking proportion and try to dictate to others what they think is "true to the source material" like in MLP, or in a fandom that can't distinguish between fanon and canon like in MLP... except regarding the latter, maybe Legend of Zelda.
